Is it just a coincidence that two companies I had always associated with phono cartridges until just recently, Grado and Audio-Technica, also make quality headphones or does one technology lend itself to the other? I know that headphones and cartridges are both transducers but then so are speakers.

Does anyone know if Ortofon ever made a headphone? Are they still around?

We can see more of an association between microphone and headphone production--both are miniature transducers, except one is a reverse transducer.

Actually, I just noticed in one of my university's rooms made for remote learning that the desk microphone/receiver sets are made by Audio-Technica. Cool.
