Well crap.  Calyx is batting 1.000 here, and not in a good way for me.  iRiver is gonna sell a ton of those hyper-expensive AK240's if the competitors can't do better than this

Heaven forbid...

Connectivity features wise ZX-1 wins by being very versatile with line out and usb out.. there is no digital/analog out on this thing
IMHO, I think ZX-1 is still the prettiest...
I wonder how the battery life holds for DSD playback on this thing.
looks like more

and the most important thing, when is this dap on sale?

Here some little information:

"We are the first one who used ess 9018 in the high-end market and a lot of experience on it. So we used"

so it has been confirmed that the DAC is ESS9018, but don't know single or dual

I am. Between Sony ZX1 and this, both interest me. And physical buttons don't matter to me. I'm planning to use a Bluetooth smart device (bracelet or ring) to manage volume and skip fwd.

Good luck with that.

The Calyx-M has Wi-fi, but where did you read that it supports Bluetooth?

What does the wifi do? I read that its for remote control... So there will be a mobile app to use with that? Kinda confused what would be a practical use case

The only useful purposes I can think of linking up with an iOS or Android app over wifi is to support audio streaming from the music files on your mobile phone or listen to your phone calls via audio streaming without having to remove your IEMs from your ears. But you will need an IEM that has mic on its cable...

I don't know if anyone is following calyx on Facebook but they commented that you might expect the calyx M to be the same as the calyx femto.

They've been saying that ever since the first announcement, which was quoted at the beginning of this thread:

If you liked calyx Femto sound, this is definitely for you.

Yes, but 128 Mb TOTAL ( of there is only 1 SD slot) is really too little ! Someone should tell their designers that High Res files takes more room than MP3 !

I have a feeling like this M will sound nice, do many things right but unfortunately missing a few essential things. I trust Calyx but unfortunately designing a dap is a bit different than designing desktop units. Maybe successor of M will bring what we see as missing.

Thanks. I missed that. I wonder why they would reference it again earlier today rather start referencing a more known comparison? Suggesting a $6000 plus DAC sounds like the new $999 DAP would lower sales of the FEMTO DAC.
