Has anyone successfully played a redbook cd, on your component system using the digital toslink out on your 963sa?

I don't know what I'm doing wrong but I can't get music to play through stereo system using the toslink out of the 963sa to my reciever. If i throw a dvd in that goes through that same toslink cable hooked up in the same exact way the sound works fine. Is there some setting i'm overlooking here on the player? It worked fine with my old marantz changer.

i haven't tried the digital toslink, but maybe the upsampling is enabled? Only few external DACs can read upsampled signals and i guess this is not the case with your receiver. i think upsampling doesn't work with DVD so this would explain why you have no problems playing DVDs via toslink.

horscht's anwer is the most likely explanation. If you disable upsampling using the «audio» switch, the Toslink connection will work fine.
