6.3mm locked to 3.5mm adapter?

Th Best Answer would be to cut off the cable about 4" below the twist on 2.5 that snaps into the cans. The solder on a 3.5 mm female TRS jack and then a 3.5 TRS Plug to the other exposed end of the existing cable. Then you could connect any cable to it. Google 2.5mm to 3.5mm cable and you will find a plethera of aftermarket short adapter cables but they will not lock into place. they will be at the mercy of the natural tension of the 2.5 plug.

I'll call Shures support to find out and report back

Edit: Called shure and spoke to a rep. He said any Standard 2.5mm to 3.5mm will plug in and work just fine. It just wont LOCK in as the headphones were designed for...but the adapter would plug in just like any normal adapter would plug into any other source. This is epic win.
