Hi

Are these drives standard or is there any audiophile grade somewhere?

I am building a HTPC with Streacom FC9, and want to listen to cd sometimes.

Does optical drives matter for normal cd 16/24bit 44.1/48Khz?

My guess is that it doesn't matter. Some TASCAM decks are said to have "audio grade" drives -https://tascam.com/us/product/cd-rw900mkii/feature

I am sure somebody can point you to boutique drives but it would seem senseless. I do like slot-loading drives that some car rigs have, and Audiolab CD players use those.

Hah, cool that you found a slot-loading component drive! I have never looked for one.

I remember. I still think it's worth checking out the Lenovo M90n IoT :)

Ooh yeah I have had that on my mind too. I remember you recommend it, thanks! 🙂

I also have a j5040 build(10watts) which is 100 passive…

So lately I am trying to finish my home music studio which has taken all my time. Especially cable management and placements of equipments.

I am building a little bigger passive system(streacom fc9) which is also for DAW. I just havent decided for which daw software yet(cubase, studio one, reaper)
