I'll have to listen some more, specifically on my desktop to actually pinpoint exactly what it is I don't like, but I assume the treble rolloff is simply giving it a treble forward focus where even at medium volume I find it annoying - I was just listening omw to grocery shopping on lower than normal volume listening to "Truth - Acceptance" album.. a very warmly mixed (oldschool dubstep/dub) piece and it still just brings out so much unwanted energy, it kind of tucks and hides the bass at lower volumes and it doesn't fit with that kind of music its supposed to be a dark room but Hype4 makes it bright .. I can't EQ (iPhone) and thats where I will be using them mostly..
sounds very fine on Monarch 3 ! I found nothing piercing, listened to all songs for about 1 minute each skipping trough it, massive deep textured bass, realy well done bass, and lot of sounds around, nothing piercing tho, everything very good and clear!

I DONT OPT YOU TO BUY MONARCH 3, DONT DO IT, ITS 2,5X YOUR BUDGET. What about Etymotic ER2XR, did you looked at it? You would LOVE!!! freq. response of those.
Non shouty, kinda natural, non piercing sound. Really look into it. And you will save quite some money! If you can, buy it and you can return it I guess. Its on Amazon (dot com, not dot de) for only 99$. Just make sure you buy XR version, NOT SE version.

I'm not that trained in reading graphs but it looks like it might have even more treble peak?

What I think about treble "energy/sparkle" is that it sounds like whisking..

This is all I get whenever people say treble "sparkle", "energy" .. the music sounds like metallic whisking .. this is kind of the same whisking I feel like has a significant share in the Hype4.

I know what you mean, its probably measure bug, they say measure around and above 10k is "random", it has recesed treble and shoutines and I think you would really like it.
Its from Amazon, you can try it and return.

I have never felt so conflicted on a pair of IEMs before.. Its 96-99% of what I want.. I just think there's a bit too much "whisking" goin on in the treble.. I'm also sure that 3/4 other sets I will buy will likely disappoint me more - which puts my chances with ending up with a worse set high.. Especially given the trend is the "whisking" audiophile treble 😔

but its good you heard it and you "need" to return it.. I think you can choose return full money and you have an experience how Hype 4 sounds and how that frequency curve they have sounds and now you can look into other IEM and "compare" to it.. freq graph is not "100% of the sound" if you understand this, but you will have at least some picture

Lots of things have the response I like. Hoping for more of that cohesive, easy resolution with some boogie type sauce.

For myself, I have recently owned the Quattro, Pilgrim and Hype 4.

To me the Hype 4 easily beats both of those. I do have the DaVinci coming as well but out of those three $400 IEM, it was an easy winner for me. Not a hard decision.

Let me know how you find the davinci or I'll see your review cuz I have notifs on that :) Especially how you find the treble and the bass..

I would give Hype 4; 4.5 stars

Its like.. sometimes electric bass like in this track and others it comes off a little too electric and energetic, a little too much snap on that.. Its a bit too "v-shaped" imo a lil less peaks in highs and a lil less bass would have been perfect..

My yanyin canon ii’s just got delivered yesterday, my first impression is they are the most comfortable I’ve ever used (em6l close behind).

As a relative iem newbie, I love them so far. Need to test more obviously but would recommend looking into if the Hypes don’t work out.

Having heard the Hype 4 and compared it to other heavy hitters in the $300~$500 segment, I share the same sentiment with you mate. It just sounds so smooth throughout the entire frequency spectrum, with correct & organic timbre, not to mention the hard-hitting bass with awesome texture for the price. Hype 4 is truly a younger bro of Monarch mk2/mk3 to my ears. Technicality wise, it's about 80% of the Monarchs, on par with the best & most technical of its segment like Pilgrim, 7hz aurora, epz 530, aful performer 8 (epz 530 & aurora slightly more resolving compared to the rest in this segment but the difference is just splitting hairs at this point, they are all within the same ballpark). These all have their own strengths but overall if I were to be held at gunpoint and had to choose one, I would choose Hype 4 definitely.

yep. I bought the Hype 10 thinking it would be an upgrade actually, but I'm returning the Hype 10 and keeping the 4. I like them better. That smoothness, texture, and timbre is so so good.
