The OP wants more bass and people recommending the 701 know they are mis-leading him. The 701 reproduces low bass notes but has ZERO bass impact or WEIGHT and is also extremely hard to drive and requires a really nice amp to perform up to snuff. Not to mention fit problems and more expensive cable replacements and sounding very un-natural. Yes I know its got a large sound stage, so what.

Add another vote to the HD600/650. The former if you want more neutral sound, the later if you're looking for some extra bass oomph. Both would match very nicely to a tube amp, which prefer driving highish impedance phones than low impedance ones.
I don't think the Woo 6 were as a good match for the D2k/D5k Denons or the K701 as it would be for the Senns or the Beyer. However I guess you'd find the DT880 too lean in the bass to be of your liking.

NONE OF THOSE!!!!

All these are more audiophile cans for music, but for movies you want a headphone with more impact than refinement.

Beyerdynamic DT-770 Pro (80ohm version)
Ultrasone HFI-650

these are my recommendations. Audio Technica Ax00 line should be good too (not AD*00, mind you), but since I havent heard them personally I cant recommend directly.

I love the 701, but a lot of people don't. If I were you, I would just do some reading or take the opinions in this thread and order the front runner from Headroom (headphone.com). They have a fantastic return policy with which you have 30 days to basically audition the phones you ordered and return them, no questions asked.

ive had the 555, the 580s, and now the 650s.

I think whats missing from the 555, you will find with the 650s.

WA6 is a fantastic amp and im sure will sound lovely pushing the 650s.

I really enjoyed the 701s myself. I didnt really miss the lack of bass, as they are SOO detailed. Crisp to my ears...however that crispness turns in fatigue after a few hours of listening. I could wear my 650s for 12hours straight =)

Thanks for all the replies!
It looks like the 650HD got most of the votes here.
I'm a bit disappointed that the AKG K701 didn't got more sympathize responses, they look great compared to the 650HD and seem to be much more comfortable.
I'll wait till after CES like someone here suggested earlier and probably buy the 650HD model.
Thanks again.

The 650s are pretty comfy. The 701s aren't really significantly more comfortable, the round pads make for a weirder fit.

Denon D2000s have a nice amount of bass.. the newer ones (D7000 I think?) have even more I've heard, but they're a little out of your budget.

I also got a pair of Audio Technica ATH-A900s that have great clean, punchy bass. I find they're especially good for movies and games.. great impact on bullets and explosions and what not.

I'm not pleased the the 555, no bass, no quality, just poor performance.
In my city I cannot audition the any headphones, just buy online.
Budget is up to $400.

This are my thoughts so far:
1. audio-technica ATH-AD700
2. beyerdynamic DT 880
3. AKG K701
4. Sennheiser 650 HD

Any more candidate I should consider?
Can someone please help me make the right choice?
The use will be 100% movies.
Thanks.

Uh-oh... my, bad...
