I bought some IEMs, but the supplied Ares cable is terminated with a 4.4mm connection, not much use to me, as my DAPs are 2.5mm.

I have bought a Fiio 4.4mm to 2.5mm balanced adapter (I couldn't find any others), but I wondered how much of a performance loss would there be using this adapter on the Ares, or any other cable for that matter?

The adapter hasn't turned up yet and I haven't heard the Ares anyhow, so I won't be able to tell the difference.

I am looking at picking up a more expensive cable, which is terminated with a 4.4mm, so was wondering whether the cheap adapter would dilute the performance too much or not.

I have a dap with 4.4 balance and theres an amp that has a 2.5 balance, so I was thinking of getting a cable/connector with a 4.4 and a 2.5 at the other end.
