**30Gb Zune? Go ahead - Switch it on!**

So according to that response you posted, they are not claiming a patch anytime soon. All they are claiming is the issue will fix itself once it is January 1st once the leap year day passes. They just promise a patch will come out before the next time it could possibly happen in the year 2012.

hmmmm typical microsoft hehe. I dont see any self healing going on here. can anyone confirm that it actually does 'self heal' great spin. throwing off on apple doesnt stop this being a complete cluster****.. thats pretty funny; yeah MS give me a warm fuzzy feeling with how they deal with things. LOL before someone accuses me of being a fabboy. dont worry sure I do like apple products but I do accept they have their own problems. but I cant remember them ever having 2 separate new years related hissy fits before. this is the millennium bug for daps

a bug in the internal clock driver related to the way the device handles a leap year.

My guess was right

Something just overflows somewhere on 366th day of the year.

so, see. Apple took the Mobile Mess issues quite fine, right ?
Did you waited 2-5 days for the official response ?
what about those iPhone 3g connection issues ?
Did you wait 2 monthts (?) and took every Apple denial of the problems without issues, right ?

Was you affected by these issues ?
No. Not me either with this Zune 30 issue.

ummm no I wasnt affected by either one of those problems you mention. I bought my iphone 3G on the release date and never had any connection issues and i've been using macs for over 20 years. I had a 128k mac. the first one.; and I cant remember anything even resembling this or the millenium upgrade $$$$ did you actually read my post?? I admit apple has their own issues. BUT IMO they pale in comparison to microsoft if we are going to start throwing off. oh yeah microsoft are really openly admitting their problems regularly. I want the zune to do well; i really do, it'll give apple a kick up the ass to keep making good products; 85% is too much market share to keep you on your toes. but there is definitely a reason microsloth windows has lost 8% market share mostly this year, with most of that going to apple.

anyway I just wanted to see if any had 'self healed' but since over half of the world is in the new year now, and nobody has posted happy post yet. I wonder if it really happens. so no more OT from me I hope you all have working daps today. happy new year guys

Well I think so far over the past year I've had three firmware updates for the Zune maybe even four? Two were in the past few months so yeah at the current rate we should have about 12 to 16 more updates before then.

I'm not going to lose sleep on that one.

You will be keep wondering for a few more hours. Zune is mostly an American thing.

zune is all american im sure. oh wait, they got it to canada too (in the things that don't matter to life, we are treated as 52nd state), in others, we are just like puerto rico.

i don't think you will get zune responses from outside our eastermost borders unless there are importers of the device elsewhere. listened to one today: liked it. it was a new one though and working

Yup, I just saw that too. Good on them for taking care of the issue. This is the kind of stuff that makes me happy with MS.

You're kidding right??? Your sarcasim is extreme, or you're you're totally out of it. How can you be happy with MS when they don't anticipate a leap year for their products??? Do you think that they were caught by surprise?? They're incompetent, lacking in fundamentals. Please reconsider your blind devotion to a so-so company and it's products.

LOL! Gotta love Microsoft.

I read on another forum that the Gigabeat S series (which the Zune is based on) is also affected by this bug. If that's true, the fault could lie with Toshiba's developers. Not that Microsoft is not liable, but something to keep in mind.

Also, I don't expect that we'll ever see a firmware update for the Gigabeat S. But do think you'll see an update for the Zune (eventually).

maybe so, but how many people do you know that are still running XP on their PC because of the crappola that is vista. this probably has something to do with it. but its not just the 'numbers' mac laptops in particular have taken the world by storm. and whether its a good thing or not for the industry, ipods have become synonymous with daps; to the point that people will cal a dap that isnt an ipod an ipod. somebody has to really take it to apple so that dap development continues to progress, instead of the sideways movement that they exhibit at the moment. IMO the cowon products are the only ones that really offer anything that ipod doesnt. but they have their own issues. but I agree that apple has started to become microsoft in some ways. locking users out and maintaining a monopoly. that sux; I dont like having to install alternate firmware to maintain full control of my device, but at least all my hardware is working today. I havent heard the Zune; I would be keen to hear one if they found their way out here; but it seems they have most of the same troubles that ipod does and IMO more. no drag and drop, proprietary formats, tied to a particular library manager. and now this sort of silliness. come on ZUNE bring the competition.
darthsmile.gif
I want more features on my dap and I want progress god damn. Can you run rockbox on Zune?? my 5.5G DIYMOD is almost unrecognizable as an ipod apart from the exterior. rockbox, CF mod, DIYMOD, clear front panel, so you could say that tere are definitely some issues I had with it in stock form, but the way it is now; no zune is gonna come near it IMO. they look VERY cool, and i'm sure they sound better than a stock 5G or 6.5G classic. how does the SQ compare to a 2G touch?? anyone own both??

sorry again for the OT. but just had a few questions for Zune owners and since unfortunately you have all been gathered in this one place I thought I'd ask here.
