As a response to your HE-6 note. The Treasures were not the right tube for the HE-6 at all. After finding my ideal tube with the HD800 I can safely say the HE-6 sounds much better with it as well.

Unfortunately the Treasures were my least favorite tube on tap this weekend in the end. Gorgeous but utterly useless to me sound wise.

I found the Treasures bright, bass-less, and grainy. Not to mention noisy (I think one of them is bad).

Totally agree on the Treasures inpressions. I bought a pair as upgrade when i bought my WA5-LE and reapidly sold them for the same reasons.

sorry if this is stupid, but can you please talk a little about the EF-5 amp with those cans? I know you had all the big boys there that probably took up most of your listening, but I have the EF-5 and would love to hear how it stacks up to the $2000+ more expensive amps. what am i missing by not having one of those? (I have the HE-5 phones and would like to upgrade to an audeze or he-500)

thanks

Funny, but in a very euphonic WA22, I found the Treasures a very good match. Really goes to show you that amp/tube synergy is a factor too.

I agree Peter. In my WA5-LE with the EML 300B Mesh and tha 596 the best sounding drivers are the TS BG/RP 6F8G. I own several top end 6SN7 like the TS BG/RP, RCA Red base 5692 and even two different pairs of Mullard ECC32 and I personally prefer the sound with the 6F8G.

Those RCA red base 5692s are very special (and expensive) tubes indeed.

With your can collection and apparently nice tube collection...you need an LL. :D

I just listened to the LL for a little bit at last year's RMAF but Alex was having issues with it and also there were not 009 available at his table. I would love to try it with my 009 to compare to my 727.

Yes they are nice and expensive but as nice or expensive as those Mullard ECC32.

Those are the most expensive drivers in my collection.

While this doesn't necessarily pertain to the mini meet I'll be writing some comparisons on the Resolution Cantana and the Perfect Wave gear (hopefully) this weekend.

mwilson has graciously offerred me his Cantana to try as it comes back from service. As long as all goes well, I plan on (finally) hearing it soon.
