Haven't even heard the Monk, bought the Zen just on a whim, I've been a massive fan of buds since my childhood days with my Walkman, if nothing else it will bring back nostalgic memories.

Well it's money well spent! You'll get a pair of monks in with your Zen's anyway :sunglasses:

I run my dx50 at 210 vol with the Monks (donut foams), sound brilliant with acoustic stuff! No EQ for me. :sunglasses:

How does the Zen2.0 compare to the Monk in terms of responding to hardware eq?
on many songs i can't use higher bass boost settings on the Monk or else the headphone begins to distort.
can the zen2.0 be turned into a bass boomer?

I can't say that I've tried it myself, I love the Zens and Monk without EQ if I'm being honest :sunglasses:

Maybe someone should start a Zen thread? I know it seems a bit overkill considering there are two threads already but just a place for Zen owners would be nice.

I got my Monks a few days ago. While I was waiting for the Monks to arrive, I was thinking this must be over-hyped. Earbuds are earbuds (I don't have any expensive models). Well I finally got a chance to sit and listen to "Unplugged" by Eric Clapton. I just sit there thinking it's unbelievable that I am hearing this from an earbud, let alone a $5 one. The sound signature is the perfect for my type of music.

I am going to enjoy these Monks for a while, but they have piqued my interest with VE's upper models. The Zens are still out of my price range (especially since I'll need a new amp to even power them), but I might consider the Asura. However, I don't know if my equipment can properly drive it. I have a Sansa clip + Fiio E5 for portable use and a Fiio Q1 for desktop. Anyone know if these are powerful enough to drive the Asura?

Lastly, I would like to say thanks to Lee and VE for making such an amazing budget earbud!

Received my order of five in the mail today. Exactly 9 days from China to Kansas City...outstanding! Except for the US part...it took three days to go from China to NY...then a full friggin' week to get to KC from NY?!

The worst part was on the route, the ling distance truck came within 13 miles of my house...it was four more days until I received them...

*This is no slam or indication of slow shipping from Lee* This is a slam at the US system, especially when it was sent priority!

Lee, you should be very proud of your service. Top notch communication, and shipping! I am not only extremely impressed with the Monks (as said in an earlier post on this thread), but the personal service Lee offers.

I would highly recommend any VE product based upon that. Cheers Lee and thank you!

:thumbsup::point_right::beers::clap:
