Well, gr07's mids were a bit laid back, so it's interesting that the an16 might be even more V-shaped, which should make it a bigger departure from a gr06's "upgrade" as gr06 was more mid-forward than gr07 and even than gr04 flagship

 Now you see why its not an upgrade to GR06.

I'm pretty sure they were stated that they'd be an upgrade in sound to the GR06.

I think what that guy meant is that since their sound is not like the GR06 (due to recessed mids, whereas the GR06 was know for its intimate mids), that they aren't a direct upgrade to them. I don't think he meant that in a good or bad way, just that they sound different so they can't really be a successor to the GR06.

Edit: disregard everything I said about the AN16's expected sound and how it was supposed to be a successor. I'm dumb. :3

No one stated anything about sound quality. They said it would be a 7 driver on a gr06 shell. Nothing more

stock L silicon. The boosted upper mids is still there, or maybe its the lower treble. not really sure haha but its definitely hurting my ears.

So, people who thought GR07 was had "too forward" sounding mids would probably be very pleased with the AN-16's tuning.

i always thought gr07 mids was finely placed in the middle of everything. so sometimes it could sound forward or recessed depending on the level of bass in the song. But yep, the an16 mids is slightly recessed in comparison.
