I have a hd555, but im selling those to upgrade. Right now I am looking at the d2000 and the dt880 as new choices. Which one should i get. I will be using them mostly for music and gaming.

I have a question about the dt880: How much sound leaks out, and how much of the environment noise leaks in?

I listen to mostly alternative/light rock dunnno if thats the term used here
and I use a creative extrememusic
i might consider buying an amp later on like in a couple months if it really needs one

based on your preferences, i'd say dt880's out of the two, but it does leak a lot out and in. d2000's leak in but not out.

DT880's don't leak that much. They're not as bad as Grado's but still not as good as something closed.

would the dt880's be something that you could bring into a library?
and if an amp is needed, which do you recommend?

I wouldn't bring them into a library... D2000's would be better for that. Everyone also says they need a lot of amping so portable probably isn't best.

I wouldn't really want to listen to any of those without an amp. Especially the DT-880s (assuming you're going the 250 ohm route which is what seems to be the primary choice - whether it's the 05 version or not)

I'd suggest a pair of k701s over the 880s anyhow

I need something that wont bother people in the same room at night.
I will be using these in college and do not want to bother my roommate. Will the dt880 leak so much sound that it will? If not, i'll probably go with dt880 and a little dot iii or v
is that a good setup?

and how about the dt770?

On a side note, how well are these headphones for gaming?

I have both right now. Im keeping my denons and returning the DT880, they are a bit too bright for me. I rather enjoy the warmness of the d2000. They are also quite good for gaming. Plus they have plenty of bass.

The Denon's are incredibly comfy. They hardly clamp on your head at all, and the leather pads are incredibly luscious.

The 880s are really a great headphone. They are bright, but not nearly so much as something like the Grado 325s or Ultrasone HFI-780s. The isolation on them is a lot better than I expected with a semi-open can.
