Hey guys, I've been looking into purchasing a budget speaker system for my newly built pc. I mosty use my sennheiser hd558's for gaming and music, so the speakers would only really be used when I'm not wearing my headphones. I have a xonar dg installed in my pc, of that makes any difference. So the question is, what would be the best $100 budget 2.1 speakers for my needs?

2.1 for 100 bucks can be a bit tight.
You might want to take a look at monitors, usually 2.0. Maybe you can find used in this range.

I don't have any recommendations for 100 bucks. For 150 (maybe cheaper) you can get the Klipsch Promedia. 2.1

Indeed a favorite of head-fi forum are the Klipsch Promedia. 2.1. You can find them cheaper on ebay for 125ish (used)

A lot of ppl recommend edifier speaker and they have a range of 2.1 set for more or less 100$. Although not a whole of ppl have tested them. I think their relability is what ppl like of the brand. Might be worth a look.

But like I said, none of them got actual review of headfier compared to other speaker. So they are not "recommended".

It's hard to recommend any 2.1 system other than the promedia 2.1 in that price range. If you use headphones for music and gaming, I think a cheap set of Logitechs might be enough for your needs.

Yeah, I could've recommended altec lansing, but their new stuff is crap. So you either have Logitech or Klipsch for 2.1s and Audioengine for 2.0s.

I've heard that they are great speakers for the price. They have decent bass for a 2.0 system but I doubt you'll get the same boomboom you get from the dedicated sub in a 2.1 system.

However some reviews on Amazon mention a heat problem after prolonged use.

If you can get them for $100 then I would definitely recommend.

Thanks, I'll probably just spend the extra money for the promedia 2.1's. I'll want the bass for gaming and watching movies, that and I've heard great things about them. Plus the promedia's are small enough to fit on my desk lol, thanks again everyone.
