I've got an old 20GB iPod (1G) that I'd like to get to work in my car. Unfortunately, I've got no tape deck... just CD and radio.

Went looking for an FM transmitter solution at local Best Buy and all units in the store were for iPods with dock connections.

Anyone have suggestions???

Thanks!
Bruce

Funny, my first gen iPod had 15 less gigs.

Guessing you mean second generation.

Check the Buying Guide in my sig for some options. Also here's a cheap possibility.

I use my 10 gig ipod (no dock connector) in my car with an AUX connector that makes use of my honda factory deck's CD changer connections. If your deck will support an AUX, I highly recommend it as it sounds much much better than any FM modulator available today.

The ipod and AUX sounds as good as my in-dash CD player - I've switched back and forth between the ipod and a CD playing the same music - well encoded mp3 on ipod and source CD on deck - the AUX is that good. Total cost if I recall correctly was under $100 for AUX + custom dash mount and audio cable, and I installed it myself.

good luck!
