It's definitely the first 'bullet time' scene in the movie. The opening scene when the police bust in on Trinity and she jump kicks and the POV rotate around her.

Seeing that in the theater for the first time? HOLY SH****T!

I'm not sure I'd put that in with a list of "oh **** moments" but it's a great movie. I did say a version of "oh ****" when I saw the newspaper headline sequence after I'd read about how they achieved that look.

Different strokes for different folks! (..and so-on and so-on and scooby-do-be-do-be...)

Pretty much the whole second half of the film had me going "holy s**t"... The original Ring was pretty darn scary too.

The car chase in "Ronin."

I have no idea why it wasn't mentioned, but...
From Apocalypse now,
1) the end scene where Marlon Brando gets chopped up.
2) bombing scene before "I love the smell of napalm in the morning"
3) On the chopper, playing Wagner very loud during assault
from others:
4) The ending sequence from Requiem for a dream
5) from Children of Men, when Julianne Moore gets shot

There are bunch more, but I can't remember

As a 6 year old watching the Star Destroyer flyover at the beginning of Star Wars Ep.4 in '77. I was thinking HS, even though it was not in my vocabulary at the time.

Opening sequence of Fellowship of the Ring, thinking HS they have succeeded in pulling it off the page and there are two more Christmas releases to look forward to and then all the DVD extended versions!!

For pure shocks I agree with many scenes already mentioned, particularly from modern Asian cinema, Battle Royale et al. I would like to mention Casshern for it's HS visuals.

That was a great one, it made a rather boring movie worth it. Right out of nowhere, BAM, and the entire theatre gasped.

I knew something was up, but not *that*.

That needle pit scene from The Saw 2 I think, I couldn't manage to watch it!

a couple i may get mocked for, but whatever...

Remember in the first pokemon movie, when mewtwo breaks away from the machines? The 9-year-old version of me was in awe.

the first time i saw the illusionist, when they show what really happen, it was a kind of HS moment-ish.

i had a few HS moments playing the game Resident Evil 4, but i don't think that's the same thing.

I first watched that scene at home on dvd and I physically squirmed in my seat, clenching my fists and holding my sides, as if I was in a pit of dirty glass syringes.

I have too many but three from recent watchings:

American Gangster on the very first scene where the Hispanic dude was bloodied up and shot just like that... the whole room I watched in literally went HOLY Sh1T....

Saving Private Ryan on DVD. Two scenes.

-The first ~5:00 minutes of the movie. Possibly the most intense opener of any film put together from the day film was existent.
-Second is the scene where the dude clips the wooden bar, knocks the wall down and reveals a Germans in their secret radio station. Most intense ~20 seconds of shouting I've ever seen in a movie again....
