Black Hawk Down - Leave No Man Behind (Hans Zimmer)

The Rock - Rock House Jail (Hans Zimmer)*I love this particular one because it reminds me of the old school Rainbow Six theme songs

In Eraserhead, 'In Heaven' by the Radiator Lady,
In Blue Velvet, 'In Dreams' by Roy Orbison
In The Wild at Heart, 'Slaughterhouse' by Powermad,
In Lost Highway, 'I'm Deranged' by David Bowie,
In Mulholland Dr, 'Sixteen Reasons' by Connie Stevens & 'I've Told Every Little Star' by Linda Scott,
In Inland Empire, 'The Loco-Motion' by Little Eva

A bit Lynch-specific at this time but heck, these are some fine songs! With the imagery of the movie scene associated with the songs make them unforgettable.

K are we judging based on the song alone, or how well the song fits in the scene?

All I remember now is the scene at the end of Cruel Intentions, Bittersweet Symphony plays and it is just so amazing...
The Schindler's List theme too

Quoted for truth. I remember hearing this song for the first time watching this movie...and then never hearing it again until the Gears of War trailer came out, reminding me how beautiful the song was

Recently i've had "Here We Go" by Jon Brion on loop on my mp3 player.

From the Movie PUNCH DRUNK LOVE.

It's becoming one of my favorite songs ever. Simple, moon-in-june songwriting done REALLY WELL. I normally favor more abstract /indirect/clever lyrics, like from The National or Elvis Costello or something like that.

This song reminds me how clear, direct, heartfelt music is a thing of beauty.

Gayne Ballet Suite - 2001 A Space Odyssey
Interlude from Cavalleria Rusticana - Raging Bull
The Thieving Magpie - Clockwork Orange
Sarabande - Barry Lyndon

and on a lighter note...

A Short One (the who) - Rushmore Soundtrack

All great stuff. They need to put out a "the music of David Lynch films" compilation.

Great Topic!
I would have a hard time picking my "10 favorite" tracks or songs from movie soundtracks because there are literally so many. So I won't say that these are my favorites - just great tracks / songs from movies. Some are songs that pop in mind when I think of movies, or conversely songs that will always bring to mind the movie in which they appear when I listen to them. Some of the movies aren't exactly classics, but the songs / soundtrack in them are:

Once upon a Time in the West - Ennio Morricone (Once upon a Time in the West)
Superman Main Theme - John Williams (Superman)
Duel of the Fates - John Williams (Phantom Menace)
Son Of A Preacher Man - Dusty Springfield (Pulp Fiction)
Girl, You'll Be A Woman Soon - Urge Overkill (Pulp Fiction)
Twist and Shout - The Beatles (Ferris Beuler's Day Off)
Your Blue Room - Passengers/Eno/Bono (Beyond the Clouds)
Mad World - Gary Jules (Donnie Darko)
Don't You (Forget About Me) - Simple Minds (Breakfast Club)
Blade Runner Main Theme - Vangelis (Blade Runner)
I Get The Sweetest Feeling - Jackie Wilson (High Fidelity)
Laid - James (American Pie 3)
Together in Electric Dreams - Phil Oakley (Electric Dreams)
Tour de France - Kraftwerk (Breakin')
