Does anyone have any more thoughts on the 1a versus the 507? The 1a is probably at the end of its life cycle or close. It’s still expensive and may be sonically beaten by the 507.

From what I've read the wm1a beats it easily.

Thanks for the impressions. Any issues driving headphones? The power output seems low on the 507.
No troubles powering the same Solaris. I've ordered a pair of IER Z1r. They require more power

Isn’t it too soon to judge the zx507, if its initial burnin period is not achieved?
too hard to judge, some people burn it in immediately with non stop playing.

Just wish those who mention harsh sounding would do the 200hour burn-in and update with a new sound impressions. A non-defective burnt in Sony Walkman will never be harsh sounding. These Japanese Sony engineers won't be spending so much time and effort to produce an expensive audiophile product that sounds harsh. Especially when their other audiophile stuff like IEMs and Headphones are often well regarded as some of the best in the ranking list on the forums.

I have a set of IER Z1R in the post to match for the zx507. I sold the Cann Kube. And if the sound pairs better than the solaris they also will be going for sale. Don't know what you are talking about fella, I like the sound of it

Just received my ZX507 and I also have a DX160, I'd need some time to report :grimacing:

So.. Have you compare both? If zx 507 much better than dx160 i guess will be worth for saving more to get it to pair with my M7.

Thanks in advance

I just bought Audeze LCD-X. Had to max the 507 to drive these, so I got a iFi Micro Black to drive them (I'll soon post my kickstarter to help cover next months mortgage payment). Is there a way to run to the amp through the USB C, or is the only way to go is through 3.5? I think this the actual question about 507 not having a DAC.
BTW, the 507 plus my Meze Rei Penta's is phenomenal.

P.S. if you are ever in NYC, go to Audio 46. Headphone and IEM heaven, and they will match any price. (Got a great deal on LCD-X and iFi)

Not mentioned here is that the 507 will not be playing Tidal (or Qobuz or Amazon Music HD) back at full hi res - 3rd party apps are capped at 48k on this device.

It may sound great - but playback of any 3rd party app on the 507 can't be called hi res

Only files played by the Sony Music app will be reproduced in true hi res

Why someone has to buy 700$ DAP with all these limitations?

LG V series would be better buy
