A lot of silence after the high-end event. No new insights?

There are some (of assorted gear) in the impressions thread. But I have to say that the conditions were not the best. It simply was way too loud for any critical evaluations, and the FX17 was not presented very well. All nice and shiny, but only with the 3.5mm plug and no different tips on hand.

I tried it with a pair of my tips, but honestly, I still can‘t tell if I want it or not. Though I didn‘t hear any flaws or so I need to try it under better conditions to make the decision if I spend >1.5K€ on it.

I understand that. I'm familiar with the HighEnd and used to go there often. It's difficult to judge components there; the acoustics are poor and much too loud; it's more of a show.

This is where what I suggested earlier comes into play: especially in the higher price range, manufacturers should provide test equipment that can be borrowed for a small fee, which would then be credited back to the purchase price.

Years ago, for example, I was able to test an expensive amplifier for a few days without obligation, which could be ordered from the manufacturer through my dealer.
Essentially, these are test devices that aren't intended for sale but serve this purpose alone. Manufacturers should be aware that, especially in the higher price range, you don't want to buy a pig in a poke.
