I received my A 200 P!
Initial impressions were done with my Note 3>Power Amp>included USB cable>A 200 p> HFM HE-300.
I tested a mix of 96/24, 16/44.1 FLAC and 320Kbps MP3.
I'm not gonna bother with the looks, accessories, packaging, etc. until my final write-up. This is just initial impressions.
The bass is handled very well, with no apparent boost. It is very quick, accurate and has a nice texture. The best example of the texture is the representation of the bass guitar in the verses of Forfiet by Chevelle. The plucks on the strings can be heard clearly while my ears are still properly vibrated with the note itself.
The mid-range seems somewhat bright, leaning towards the high-mids. The low-mids are not lacking, though. In Slow Cheetah by Red Hot Chili Peppers, the acoustic guitar has a very natural timbre, and Anthony's voice sounds exceptionally natural. Remember Everything by Five Finger Death punch shows the strength of the low-mids as well with the gritty vocals and layered guitars. The high mids showed to be exceptional. The trumpets in Act III of Serj Tankian's ORCA sent chills down my spine. Imogen Heap's voice in The Moment I Said It also showed how exceptional the mid-range is through this device.
The treble is either neutral or slightly boosted to my ears. My preferences are dark, so I have a hard time telling. While being more present than I like, this treble showed a shocking amount of accuracy and control. At anything short of nearly painful volumes, there was no sibilance. Cymbals had a more natural decay than I have ever heard, and I had no issues differentiating the plucks of guitar strings from the whine of the violins and trumpets, and the layered voices were easy to understand because of the exceptional separation of the consonant sounds.
