Is this driver for X5 as well?
I cant install the driver.

Switched to DAC mode, plugged into the back USB port on my computer ( Windows 8.1 ).
I saw the DAC screen on my X5 for a brief second.
But the driver installer stuck on the thing that says required device plugged in.
Replugging doesnt work neither.

Need help.

Hello sasino,

With the stock FiiO DAC driver, you need to disable driver signature enforcement as follows before installing the driver:
https://learn.sparkfun.com/tutorials/disabling-driver-signature-on-windows-8/disabling-signed-driver-enforcement-on-windows-8

Alternatively you may try using this unofficial driver, which has been signed for Windows 8:

Joe Bloggs

Hello. I have X5 and X3ii and every time I want to switch between the 2 devices as external dac I have to re-install the driver as only recognize the device which was connected to the computer when installing. Is there a workaround for this? (windows 7 Pro 64 bits)

Thanks!

You... plug them all in at the same time when installing? :L3000:

They almost all worked at the same time too (sixth one overloaded the USB interfaces. I did get all 3 X players running at the same time though :p )

My X3 first gen stopped working as a usb dac after the Windows 10 upgrade. Have reinstalled the driver after many tries (Installation did not start saying 'Connect the device' although it was connected.)

Even after the driver installation it is not working.

Any suggestions or advice?

I had the same problem this morning after upgrading to Windows 10 last night. In my case, this solved the problem: uninstalling the driver, disabling driver signature verification in Windows, restarting, and re-installing the driver.

My x3 was also shutting down while plugged in via usb, but I found that forcing it to turn on and then re-running the driver installation worked.

Also ran the Windows 10 upgrade and had initial problems.  Think the issue is that when I originally installed on Windows 8.1, had to run the routine to allow for unsigned drivers.  While the upgrade to Windows 10 brought over the drivers, Windows 10 didn't bring over the permission to run the unsigned drivers.  Uninstalled the drivers, and then reinstalled and reran the instructions to allow for unsigned drivers and everything is working fine now.  In point of fact, I installed the updated drivers instead and seem to have no problems.

Thanks for the tips guys. I went back and tried the routines you suggested, but no luck.

I uninstalled the driver, restarted the laptop and plugged in the X3, which switched off immediately.

On forcing the X3 to restart during installation, it showed this error:
