Is it a 13", 15" or 15" Retina?

The display cable is only about $10-$20 (assuming it's not a Retina). Installing it is another story...

Yes

13" not retina.
But again, that is if gpu is really da problem, coz when the purple lines appear, it then freezes and restarts.

The 13" didn't have a discrete GPU, so what you're most likely seeing the result of a logic board fault.

Hopefully it's that easy.
She's not that rich and can't spend money easily.
I would recommend her a Windows laptop but her requirements are light and Photoshop-capable. My requirement is self replaceable parts.

On the bright side, besides a few specific functions, Photoshop is mainly processor intensive, so she may have dodged a bullet on costs there.

You know what? I'm thinking of a used Thinkpad X220 with i7 buuuut of cooourse it's gonna be dual core, I think. And maybe too small for her too.
Recommending a laptop to a girl is harder

Only if price is an issue, because pretty much all cheap laptops aren't MacBooks.
