I value 'value' very highly, so I am sure I should be happy with the purchase.
In regards to the source.. I have a iAudio7 which is 12 odd years old.
Would you suggest FiiO M3K or Shanling - Q1 as source ?

Was checking out the specs for both players. I think both will be fine but I give the edge to the Q1 as it has a output impedance of less than 0.2 Ohms which is excellent for sensitive monitors. Plus Shanling likes to tune with a bit of warmth to their tunings which is a bit more musical in approach to tuning vs Fiios more neutral approach. Fiio M3K looks like it also has a low noise floor. But in this case I am willing to bet the Shanling will match up better with the Aladdin.

Sounds like a description of the Teas... In particular regarding the midrange there..

Ian who wrote the first review has already told folks he enjoys the Aladdin more so. You can ask on the thread

I am very confident that folks who are willing to give these a try will be pleasantly surprised with their sound performance. Not every day we get something this significant for sound at this price. After you get them if you reread my review here you will fully understand.

Do these outperform the ISN H40?

Different, Both excell at what they do. Aladdin is more reference tuned however meaning it has less coloration, less mid bass. H40 might still have an edge for width of stage but the Aladdin is no joke when it comes to stage. Aladdin is more neutrally tuned vs the H40. Both are complimentary actually.

Actually nothing outperforms H40..
But that doesn't mean that we should save our money for something else........
