Verus Audio Lavender 2 Review
Before diving into my impressions, I’d like to thank Verus Audio and Audio Geek India for including the Lavender 2 in the Audio Geek’s India Tour. It’s a privilege to have the chance to experience and review their product. This is my first official review of one of their cables, and I’m excited to share my thoughts.
Disclaimer
Cables are crafted to enhance the performance of IEMs, not to alter their inherent tuning or sound structure. My review is based on my personal hearing preferences and the performance of the Lavender 2 with specific IEMs. Please keep in mind that results may vary depending on the source and IEMs used. Purchase based on your own preferences and needs.
Preamble
The world of cables has always intrigued audiophiles. While some debate the technical merits of cables, I choose to focus on my listening experience and the synergy a cable creates with the IEMs I pair it with. Verus Audio is an Indonesian brand founded in 2015 that specializes in bespoke cables for car audio, home audio, and portable audio. Over the years, they’ve developed their proprietary “N” tuning system to achieve synergy across multiple devices. The Lavender 2 is part of their budget series, but it promises high performance with premium materials.
Materials & Build
The Verus Lavender 2 features:
Materials: 7N OCC Gold Plated Copper, Long Crystal Gold Plated Silver, and OFC Silver-Plated Copper.
Gauge: 24.6 AWG Core and 24.3 AWG Shield.
Design: Coaxial structure for compactness and power.
Connectors: Verus Customized Connector and Bespoke Solder.
Insulation: Flexible and durable.
The cable is visually striking with its gold-plated and silver elements, offering both elegance and robustness.
Sound Impressions
The Lavender 2 enhances the IEM listening experience without overpowering or significantly altering the sound signature. Its coaxial design and premium materials ensure a clean, controlled signal transmission. Below are my impressions with different IEM pairings:
Alpha Omega Ra + dx 180 + Penon Stock Wide Bore Tips
Slightly sweet, bright tonality.
Sub-bass comes alive, with rumbly, textured bass.
Improved instrument separation and soundstage utilization.
Highs in drumsticks and electric guitars are crisp and clear.
Dita Project M + Onix Overture Xm5 + Divinous Wide Bore Tips
Treble and low bass feel more dynamic and energetic.
Sub-bass is slightly suppressed, though mid-bass retains its thump.
Layering is crisp and intricate.
Male vocals feel refined, particularly with Bollywood tracks.
Penon Fan 3 + Onix Overture Xm5 + Divinous Wide Bore Tips
Noticeable increase in treble brightness and mid-bass depth.
Soundstage expands significantly.
Bass
The Lavender 2 offers a well-defined bass response with excellent texture and control. Sub-bass reproduction feels clean and tight, particularly when paired with bass-oriented IEMs. While it does not overly emphasize sub-bass rumble, mid-bass feels impactful and present, offering a sense of warmth and rhythm that blends seamlessly into tracks. In bass-heavy genres, it adds depth without overpowering other frequencies, striking a fine balance.
Mids
Vocals and midrange instrumentation benefit from a natural and slightly warm presentation. The Lavender 2 provides clarity and smoothness, ensuring vocals sound realistic and intimate. Male and female vocals alike feel engaging, particularly in Bollywood music or acoustic tracks. While the mids do not overpower, they are well-separated, allowing instruments and vocals to shine individually without any congestion.
Treble
Treble performance on the Lavender 2 is slightly elevated, lending brightness and airiness to the sound signature. It provides crisp detail in high frequencies without harshness or sibilance. Instruments such as cymbals and electric guitars are reproduced with precision and clarity, making them enjoyable for genres that thrive on treble energy. The tuning avoids excessive brightness, ensuring a fatigue-free listening experience.
Pros
Compact yet powerful coaxial design.
Premium materials like gold-plated copper and silver ensure top-notch signal transmission.
Competitively priced at $265, making it a strong contender in the budget segment.
Cons
Sub-bass and mids may feel slightly recessed with some IEMs.
Because it is a review unit I don’t know if it comes with a separate carrying case or a pouch verus audio send me both so I upload the images of both.
.
Conclusion
The Verus Lavender 2 cable is an impressive offering from Verus Audio's budget lineup. With its thoughtful design and premium materials, it provides audiophiles with an elevated listening experience. Whether you seek enhanced soundstage, improved instrument separation, or a touch of clarity in your tracks, this cable delivers. At its price point, the Lavender 2 has the potential to disrupt the market, proving that a budget cable can still bring luxury and performance to the table.
