Topping D10 DAC

443911

New Head-Fier
Pros: Plenty of detail
Can be used as a self powered USB to Coaxial converter
Cons: Bass reproduction
I was looking for a cheap USB to Coaxial converter, to get 192khz on my old M-DAC/RegaDAC's, i came upon the Topping D10. It does the job required with no extra power cables needed to get it running.

Its very well built, its obvious this uses off the shelf parts that you can buy from ebay, such as the case. and screen.

You can use it to power headphones through the line outs with a converter, and it goes loud, it only struggles with my DT880pro's which are high Ohms headphones.
You can plug anything up to it with a USB output, so u can hook it up to your phone with an OTG cable, and listen to music straight to the headphones from it.

The Sound is better than what you get through a PC audio output. It has a lot of detail, but i think it has too much detail and excitement(hence the good reviews) but with no warmth, but i could live with that.
The main issue with this DAC is the poor Bass reproduction, the bass all there but its too woody and has no punch and control.
I have tried foobar at the highest bit rates with plugins, and with high bitrate dsf files.

If you can get it cheap and your current source is the headphone socket straight from your PC, buy this.
But if already have a few DAC's i recommend you don't get the D10.

What do you mean by "You can use it to power headphones through the line outs with a converter?" Do you mean a headphone amp? If not, then that would explain the bass problems. You need a headphone amp connected to the outputs of the D10 to use it properly.

What headphone amp are you using if any?

Not trying to say you are wrong as to what you hear, but technically it doesn't make sense so there may be an issue with your setup.

Can it be powered by Shanling Q1? My plan is to connect the dac with power amp to play files from Q1. I can wirelessly control the Q1 so i dont have to get up everytime I want to change Track.
