Great review, I may be in the market for some Super Dolphins now! I don't think much more is needed, you covered pretty much everything, but as they're a bit out of the price range I was looking at would you mind expanding on a few points?

On comfort, are they fine to wear for longer periods of time (4+ hours)?

Any particular issues that you can foresee for slightly smaller ears?

I'll mainly be using my phone, are these suitable without any extras?

I'm interested in symphonic metal, female vocals, and strings (violins), so they sound like a good match, but if you still have them to hand (or based off what you've already heard), would you mind giving your impressions for a few artists? Nightwish (Tarja era, perhaps "Over the Hills and Far Away), Lindsey Stirling (Shatter Me), and Emilie Autumn (Shalott). And if they're strong in these areas, are they also sufficient across genres (acoustic, electronic, rock/pop)?

Thanks.

@Khazidhea  Thanks mate :)

I found that when I used a well selling pair of tips, it helped with the comfort. The ear hooks are soft and they kind of disappear after awhile. To be honest I didn't really use them for that long a stretch but I used them close to 3 hours for commuting and it was fine, my ears were not fatigued or sore after. But depending on your ear anatomy ymmv.

For smaller ears you might have to do a bit more tip rolling to really find an optimal set but thats just me guessing. I have average sized canals and I didn't have too much trouble finding a good set of tips.

And yes I ran them out of my phone (Neutron app on my BlackBerry Z30) and sansa plenty of times. But they did sound more impressive out of my dedicated DAP.

I loved listening to Lindsey Sterling with the Dolphin :) specially her new album. Also with Shatter Me you can really hear the energy in Lzzy Hale's vioice and how raspy it can be during the chorus (she's my fav female rock singer). Since the Dolphin  sounds so balanced and clean it was great for metal where I was able to make out double pedals easily in complex passages. I didn't try night wish, but I loved listening to Evanescence tracks as the distorted guitars sounded nice, full and thick. I would imagine nightwish to be the same but I didn't try it myself to be able to say conclusively.

I don't have them on hand anymore, already mailed them off unfortunately. But I did try them with EDM and while trance with female vocals were enjoyable they wouldn't be my first choice/recommendation for bass heavy genres. But I am weird like that, I like to listen to everything with neutral/balanced sounding iems :)  The Dolphin, to my ears anyway, is pretty good at recreating the atmosphere and ambience of live acoustic recordings and it had me trying out new acoustic music.

As for price, AE has a site wide sale in november, the 11/11 sale as it is referred to. But generally speaking for any aliexpress seller it always pays to message them beforehand asking for best price, I have gotten deals that way from a wide range of sellers this way. I hope this helps and good luck!
