I got my 2nd one from a 3rd party vendor. It actually got to me faster.. Antonline is ok. It is like $25 with 7 shipping or something like that. Very close to what Amazon was selling for.. Ya try one. You will see. There is no comparison really. These will show you how much other phones are lacking. seriously. If there is such thing as a measuring stick for fun sounding cans. These would be the litmus. Worthy for any ones collection..

ok I won't bother with the Amazon review. It's a good measure of how popular an item is but once something starts selling like the JVC HARX cans the price goes up. If these truely blow the doors off the HARX cans I guess I'll have to pull the plug and go for it.

Man these cans are selling like hot cakes on Amazon. The cheapest I can find is fulfilled by Amazon and they don't have them in stock. They went from around $35 this morning up to $42 from a seller that has them in stock.
Dsnuts.....I guess I waited too long. Well for now my measuring sticks are my AD700 and A700 cans. I'll wait until they're in stock from the third party you mentioned and one other . When it comes to budget cans that perform above and beyond what is expected under a certain price point I like to squeeze every penny I can get so I'll wait until they're in stock at those other places.

I had these burned in at around 40 hours and things were improving. I wasn't very impressed as I compared them to my Audio Technica ATH-A700 and ATH-AD700. But as I started listening to different types of music at the 45 hour mark I was smiling ear to ear. That says ALOT and EVERYONE should try these headphones! Are they as good as my AT cans? No....but they're close enough. And theres something about them.......they just bring you into the music. It's like my A700 and AD700 paint a better picture of whats going inside the recording....but the Pannys slips a $20 bill in your pocket and while the show isn't technically as good.....you're happy! I'm a drummer....I know what cymbals sound like. I know if I'm listening to a thin cymbal....a thick cymbal. I know the characteristics of cymbals behind the kit....in front of the kit...what a room does to the projected sound. These cans present a realistic portrait of what cymbals are in reality....not just sizzle.....sizzle. The reason I bring up the high frequency reproduction is most often low priced cans sacrifice the highs give you big bloated lows and don't do much else right. These have the lows....and I don't believe these have an over exxagerated bass....it's adequete. HELL.....if a recording has TONS of low content....your headphone SHOULD reproduce it. I'm VERY impressed.....and not JUST for the money. A good headphone is a good headphone. Period. Thank you MalVeaX for the suggestion!

Hi guys, there are some contrastin views on these cans. I guess the point is that for USD 45 (today's price at Amazon) they represent very good value. My question is that if you had to add the velour pads, the price would go up to USD 70. At that price point, wouldn't it just be better to get the SONY MDR7506 ? The Sonys are pretty much a standard in the broadcasting industry and many reviewers say they are still very musical and listenable. Any thoughts?

Great review, enjoyed reading it but I have a question. How are you getting this thumping, slamming reverberating bass because I am not getting it. I'm getting more quantity and even slightly more impact with my soundmagic e10s. I have a small head and small ears and there is a small air gap at the bottom of my ears. Is this the problem? I've tried pressing the pad against my head so that there are no air gaps but this doesn't solve the problem?

Thanks for the review of these. I bought a pair and see exactly what you mean about them. In comparing them to my Senn HD600's, I find the Panasonic to be very enjoyable in a different kind of light. These are especially great for fast paced, bass laden and older rock.... I find myself really getting into the music. I bought the Beyer ear-pads, but haven't tried them yet. Interesting that I paid almost as much for the ear-pads as I did for the headphones. No regrets, simply an observation.
Your review has provided me with good sound and great value.

Thanks for the great review. These are great hp's. At the risk of dating myself, I have to say that I've always like the sound signature of Panasonic. Back when everyone was using Pioneer and Marantz mid-fi amplifiers, I was using Technics products. Always found them to be more rewarding. Too bad Panasonic dropped the Technics division.
Back on topic, I put the velour pads on and I cannot believe how good/more refined these become. Even though I hate pleathor for it's heat properties, I'm ordering another pair of these hp's just because I also really like the original sound signature. And at this price, why not.....
These are really addictive. I was listening to Vanessa Mae at Albert Hall performance and swapped to my Senn HD600's. I almost immediated went back to the Panasonic. They are just so much more alive and involving.....
Anyway, thanks again for the great recommendation.

How portable are these btw? Which one would you prefer, these or the portapro? I'm looking for some portable cans but my heart is with the panas.

Thank you for your excellent review. I'm very happy with these cans, can't wait till they fully open up. Didn't buy the velour pads at the time due to skepticism, but on first listen it just fell away. I'll be getting a pair of those velours (although the pleather pads are decent) out of curiousity on clearing up the mids and cleaning up the treble. Should be fun. I agree that the cans feel and look much nicer in person than any picture can do them justice.
