I absolutely enjoy writing about excellent earphones. It is much easier to write about. The EST50s I have no doubts will be very competitive for the price range.
Land is a higher priced IEM for a reason but at the same time the EST50 has its own sound and holds its own not only against the LAND but many of my top tier earphones. It is a great value earphone for what it does. Nothing missing from the signature and that is the best aspect about the EST50.
It is a good match. larger airier sound using the ISN SC4. A bit more spacious and detailed due to more silver influence.
I also like the Penon Mix with the EST40 as well.
Try some different types of tips with a slower insertion. Driver flex shouldn't damage the earphone but it does get annoying. Try one size smaller than what your using tip wise might fix the issue.
Great review. Is the texture and speed of the guitars and the speed of the bass good for metal music? Does the soundstage have depth or is it just wide? How does this compare to EJ07m, which also uses Sonion BA for the mids, if you've listened to it. Thanks!
Never heard the EJ07m. I grew up listening to metal and rock music so that is one of the music genres I test out when I do my reviews. The mids and lower treble is done with BAs so guitars have absolute speed. No issues there, one of the great aspects of the EST50 is that is has great depth and height of sound so your not gonna be left with a thin note weight for music in general if that is what your worried about. The bass dynamic is fantastic and sound more like speaker bass. It keeps up with speed metal just fine. If you want a beefy sound to your metal music I would try out the EST50. I think you will like. The only catch on the EST50 is that they need burn in for the dynamic driver on them.
Just got these. i put them on, and I love them, they sound great out of my M8 with Szalayi stock cable. I thought these were crazy bass monsters, I'm not hearing it...bass sounds amazing! HA! Wait, just threw on some EDM...bass sounds great to me! Full, yes, but out of the box I feel the bass has great control... the bass is actually staying in its own space, seperate from the mids....wow, imaging and detail in the mids is impressive...cant wait to get 100 hours on these....oh, yeah, the bass is killer on these.....impressive soundstage as well....these sound TOTL....
