grats man! I'll have to write up my review here shortly! Shame on me for being late to getting that one out

Everyone is saying this thing does not have mid range recession, which I hate more than anything.  Great review, I hope for many future drops for the TH-X00.  It might boil down between the TH-X00 vs ATH-W1000Z... for my portable system!

Nice review, buddy, and gratz on front page!  Makes me curious to hear a head-to-head with the ZMF x Vibro mk ii, which is in a similar price range and also a woody with nice bass.  I suspect (based on your review here) that the TH-X00 is a bit more V-shaped than the new Vibro, which will appeal to some but not others.

@Rhamnetin and @Stillhart, it is a slight V-shaped sound but less than the Denon. I should also add that I've never owned the TH600/900 and never auditioned one for an extended period of time so my comparisons there are not that great. I have owned the D2K for several months and had maybe 20-30m A/Bing with the D5K against the THX in our Dec meet. More of that A/B impressions here but keep in mind I've had the THX00 for only 2 days.

Thank you for the detailed review. I've owned a bio-cellulose driver IEM before (VSonic GR07) and the manufacturer explicitly states to burn-in for at least 170 hours before starting critical listening. I suspect this rule carries over to the TH-X00 too. Yet to receive mine but can't wait to break into it bcos of all the good reviews.

Interesting, I don't think I've ever heard a manufacturer acknowledge burn-in before. As least for headphones or iems.

Nicely written review...actually makes me realize I DON'T need these, had been kicking myself for not jumping into the original Massdrop offer. But, a good review isn't just "I love it" or "I hate it", but should give a good sense of the sound signature, positive and negative, of the gear so you can get a sense yourself if it will be something you want. Well done!

Thanks! I try to explain these things as layman as possible and in a way that may connect to many, not just to audiophiles and people used to the lingo. It's not as technical as some but enough to cover the basis and if it can reach out someone using a search engine as well as someone who frequents here, then that's coverage. :)
