It is efficient. You will be able to us it on anything with ease. On the other hand it isn't overly sensitive either. Sounds great amped by the way.

Sound is versatile. I will be getting the Zen next so I will let you know how they are in comparison. FD5 has a very versatile sound with a speedy clean sound so it can do those genres just fine. Acoustic Jazz in particular will shine on these. Hold on for a bit and I will let you know on the Zen thread how they compare.

How does this fare against JVC HA-FDX1? Another single DD IEM.

Thanks for the very nice review! I was wondering how do you compare them with the ISN H40, that I know you have a good experience with? Would this be an upgrade over H40? Thanks again!

In a few ways yes but if your a vocal fan not really. sound tuning is different. FD5 is more V shaped in signature and is more a fun type signature with excellent technical and dynamic properties. H40 as you know has some really nice warm smooth mids happening. They are different more than similar in tuning.

FD5 has the edge in a technical perspective but is tuned to be a bit more consumer oriented vs audiophile. If you get a nice upgraded cable I can argue that those actually sound more versatile but that is with a much higher end cable. FD5 has some uniqueness going for it but careful source matching, cable and tips matching is required.
