INTRO
Some time ago I already had the chance to listen to the BBOOOLL BO-T1. However, this one had a very strong imbalance concerning the volume from left and right. Even more than +6 dB was not enough to compensate. What I could hear at that time surprised me positively, even more, I would go one step further and say that the BO-T1 is one of the best models around 20 € with a three-dynamic driver configuration. So far, I only knew the QKZ ED6, the GEEK WORLD GK3 and the I-INTO i8 in the price segment, while the first two weren't convincing, the i8 had a lot to offer, especially in the bass range. So I decided to postpone the review and wait for a working pair of the BO-T1. To cut a long story short, I own this pair now and would like to introduce you to this in-ear.
HANDLING
Let's first get to the probably most unusual feature of the BO-T1 and that's the design. This is certainly not everyone's taste. It strongly reminds of a heart and doesn't resemble any other in-ear I've seen before.
Despite the unusual design, it carries itself very well and through the longer sound openings it reaches far into the ear canal, which favours a secure fit and also amplifies the bass reproduction.
The cable is not removable and is relatively stiff, but feels very robust. In addition, the ear hook is reinforced and holds very well above the ear.
The isolation is also very good, no matter at what volume. At some point you always have to make compromises, but at the volume level where you can quietly guess what kind of music is being heard, you won't last long.
SOUND
Let's come to the biggest and most positive surprise and that's the sound.
The bass is fast, has a good texture and is very balanced in the bass range. The sub doesn't have the biggest expansion, but it plays deep enough to cover this range satisfactorily. It also develops a pleasant pressure without ever playing itself into the foreground. Here it also always depends on how far the bass in the respective piece of music is preferred by the producer. It doesn't move mountains and certainly doesn't dismantle the drum field, but for my taste it is almost exactly right from its weighting in the signature. Not too much, but also not too little and clean. A little more rumble it might then however nevertheless.
The mids go in the direction of neutrality, and are characterized by their clarity. Also in the lower mids they are not influenced by the bass and reproduce instruments as well as vocals very detailed and natural. The top mids are a bit preferred, which makes voices more prominent and gives them more presence. The mids are very melodic, even if the elevation in the upper part is not always good for them.
The highs follow the overall positive impression. They are unagitated and have no unpleasant peaks. Even songs full of sibilants can't hurt them very much and you have to be hypersensitive in that direction to find the highs tiring. They are by no means analytical, but still have enough details and separation, even when things get hectic. Amazing for this configuration and the price. But when the source material is worse, the highs are a bit reserved and say that if you offer me something bad, you'll get it back. This means that they are not particularly indulgent in this respect and it quickly becomes artefactual and clinking.
The airy and light sound reproduction through the whole frequency range is also reflected in the stage. This is both near and low and is above average for the price. The 3 drivers resolve surprisingly well and the frequency separation seems to work perfectly.
OUTRO
It is really remarkable what the "outsider" has in store for us in terms of technology and sound. I don't want to praise the BO-T to the skies, but it's a welcome change, apart from the configuration, both in terms of sound and appearance, around 20 €. Whereby the latter is very unusual. If you want to listen to a natural U-signature and have enough in the segment of overloading bass and pointed treble, you should give the BO-T1 a chance.
