Head-Fier
overrated
Pros: Quality build, Looks and feels like a million, Excellent deep bass
Cons: fatiguing sound, thin and sibilant
I find this review very hard to write because of the praise these earbuds got everywhere
I actually bought them based on these reviews.

I want to be the one who offers a different perspective.
A honest and of course subjective perspective
I didn't received these from someone. I bought and paid for them myself.

First of all when you open the box you are greeted by a quality build and they sure do look very nice.
They are quite small but also very heavy. So for a decent seal you need to use the ear hooks.

They definitely sound the best with the donut foam. So I tested with those.
They were tested with iphone 11pro, apple lightning to minijack. old rockboxed sansaclip and to be sure i also tested them with my friends EXPOSURE XM HP. The sound was pretty much the same, I actually prefer the sansaclip.

The first thought that comes to mind when you get a sense of their sound signature. I spend a good 20 - 30 hours before it was clear to me.
They have this metallic sound quality. The kind of sound you usually hear from a metal dome tweeter. Whether it is beryllium or titanium they all share this somewhat aggressive sibilant quality. So does the smabat m1pro

The treble and midrange has this thin sound quality. At first you suspect the seal is bad so you press them hard into your ears and realize the seal was fine.
The mindrage furthermore sounds a little recessed. Treble and upper mindrage has this irritating sibilant quality that makes snare drum sounds very aggressive. And you want to turn the volume down.

The bass sounds rather good and goes very deep for an earbud.

So I thought to myself. So they posses this sibilant quality but maybe as often is the case with metal dome tweeter they offer more detail and ambiance. Perhaps even a deeper more precise perspective.

I'm sorry to say, they didn't.

I compared with standard apple airpod and (old) yuin pk2.

They sounded a little better then the standard airpod. The airpod however as it is a little muffled can be enjoyed for much longer periods without fatigue.

The yuin pk2 however killed the smatbat in all areas. Well except a very tiny edge the smatbat has in deep bass. A difference I had anticipated to be much bigger.
In direct comparison with the yuin pk2. The yuin pk2 bettered all the problems the smatbat suffers from.
It has a rich midrange. No thin sound here and just as detailed. the treble just as extended but without making your ears bleed from sibilance.

And I am talking about the old original yuin pk2 with the white label not the new one with the grey label which sounds rather bad. Read more here: New yuin pk2 fake?

Thanx for reading. Any questions are welcome.

kind regards NightRhyme
