Pros: Spacious, airy sound
Powerful and punchy bass
Cons: Big housing
Option for a wider range on silicone tips' sizes
1) Introduction and overall aesthetics
I would like to thank AV One and Hifiman for this opportunity once again. The previous review I did was the RE800 which was a good sounding iem. This time, the current flagship model is Hifiman RE2000.
The box it comes in is exactly the same as RE800. Internally, the first layer will be shown with three items. One is the earpiece itself in an aluminium circular casing. Second is the various silicone ear tips provided. The third box will be the cable itself which is detachable and spare parts for its 2-pin connectors.
After removing the first layer, inside you will get the iem booklet, comply foam tips and warranty card.
For this test, I have chosen the larger triple flange silicone tips for a better seal as it can sit deeper into my ears. The ear tips are also long enough to reduce ear fatigue from the body as the distance from the iem body to my ear is greater.
For the housing of the iem, it comes in a big brass housing that contains its single dynamic driver and it is covered with a black plastic cover that has the Hifiman logo printed. I do believe that housing plays an important role for the driver to have its space needed to project a clean and focused sound.
This time, the flagship comes with a detachable cable which is a plus point to change worn cables or to change to a balanced cable so as to plug into most balanced DAPs in the market today. The cable connectors are slotted-groove 2-pin with "L" and "R" labelled.
The cable is exactly the same as the RE800. Its silver plated copper with the brass Y-splitter and 3.5mm unbalanced connector.
In the next section, I will get into the sound signature and that is the main topic for this review. My standard gear will be the Sony ZX1 with the Cypherlabs Picollo amplifier. The iems I received were already burned in.

2) Sound
I will begin with its body and soundstage. It presents an airy sound and a warm body. Spacious and layered but not a sparkly signature. The instrument separation is great, it does not sound in your head.
Next, highs are well heard and enjoyable and love the mid high area. Cymbals are not articulated and will roll off just before it gets peaky.
The midrange has a nice body to it and I do find it a more center presentation. I love listening to female vocals like Enya, it produces a powerful yet natural sound.
Lastly, the low end on this is excellent and strong. Bass-heavy tracks sounded punchy when listening to Far East Movement. For rock and vocal tracks, the low end is tight and are pleasant to he. The bass notes can get really low and when it kicks it hard with its rumble and thumping, it makes my ears itch a little.
Overall its a smooth sounding IEM and for those who do not want a bright signature one but a more airy, spacious and warmth feel to it.

3) Suggestions
With a review like this, there is room for improvement and I will like to give some suggestions.
Starting with the body(housing), though it has good weight and its large size, I do wish to see a slimmer profile for a better fit. To sit inside the ear comfortably.
Next will be its 2-pin connectors, in the iem market especially Ciem market, most are using Westone 2-pin connector. And for demoing such aftermarket cables with a wide range of prices from multiple brands, they come in Westone 2-pin for auditioning. It will be great to pair the RE2000 if it has a female -pin connector to unleash and improve its sound with a great pairing cable.
Last will be a wider range of silicone tips' sizes to enable a better seal to play around with.

This is my opinion and end of review.
Thank you.

Pros: Great soundstage, great imaging
Cons: Price and the cable noise
1)
I would like to thank Hifiman and AV One for this opportunity to review Hifiman"s latest Iems called the RE800.
I love the unboxing experience as the box and presentation feels premium and the unboxing begins. I do feel like its a jewellery box at first glance with it black background and it focus my attention to the Iems and its carrying case.
Inside the box, you will the Iems, user guide which explains the unit itself and the history of Hifiman and the paper documents. In the carrying case, you will find two sets of comply foam tips, a pair of ear guides for those who prefer to wear over-the-ear style. Lastly the various silicon tips which are the standard small, medium and large plus it comes with some flange tips. However, the unit itself has been attached with a pair of grey silicone tips which to me is just nice for my comfort and seal.
The Iems are a small unit and it houses a single dynamic driver. The outer housing is stunning to look at with the 24K gold plated brass housing and same goes for it thin Y-splitter. The cable is fixed so its not detachable and terminates in a right angled standard 3.5mm Oyaide plug.
I generally use the unit on the go and the only thing that caught my attention was the cable noise while walking as I do travel to work. The cable noise is very noticeable as it hits my body when I put them on with or without music played.
Out of the box, the RE800 sounded thin, it has a lot of sparkles in the highs, the bass impact was noticeable but at times not really there and the mids sounded grainy. Therefore, through burning in the unit for a number of weeks. I will explain the sound further in the next section.
2)
First, I would like to to explain about the lows. It gets a whole lot better as it gets more punchier when it needs to be, a more cleaner punch and with a noticeable sub bass. I am able to get goof low ends that does not interrupt the mids and highs. Furthermore, it is able to deliver a much fuller sound and warmth which I enjoyed it very much.
Next will be the mid-range. They eventually will get much smoother over time and its clean sounding and when the vocals come, its positioned slightly forward. I enjoyed the mids from some tracks that I played like from Enya and ACDC.
Third, the highs and what a a great improvement. They get sweeter and less sparkles here and there plus the highs do not roll off too quick. This is because I like to listen to genres like Rock and Roll, Classical and Opera. This is where the highs are more important because it has to be just right like the cymbals and not too much of the hissing sounds that I get a lot initially.
Lastly will be the soundstage, its wide and always is. I do have a nice presentation when listening and has an amount of airiness to it. I do like that the drivers are quick for its frequency range.
3)
After explaining much, I will summarize what I have written so far. Though the RE800 is not the flagship of Hifiman, it sounds great for it category. Its a wide range and wide soundstage Iems but it leans toward a bright sounding signature.

Thank you.

New Head-Fier
Pros: Sliver warmth, clean
Cons: Price, not a bright cable
1) Initial Impression

The silver cable is very well made, a great product from Singapore. The sleeves feel very smooth with no rubbery texture. The audio jack and the Y splitter is the standard Effect Audio ones, also very well finished. Initially, I thought the sound will produce a bright signature just like any other silver cables. I also own a Thor Silver cable for comparrison against this new model. The Thor Silver has a bright and tight bass sound signature. The Thor Silver 2+ is silver litz configuration, given a special coating and the result is a cleaner, bassier and not a bright sound. Its is something which I did not expect but it really is more analytical and focused.

2) After burning in

Having the Thor Silver 2+ for around 2 months of listening, the signature changed slightly, there is more emphasis on the mids and lows which I will explain more in detail. The earpiece I am using will be the triple driver iem from Cypher Labs C6iem.

3) Sound
1: Lows
The bass has a much more tighter feel to it and its gives a great impact too. Its also very detailed and it goes deep enough to be heard. However, it does not have a very strong bass like a copper cable but it has more body than an ordinary silver one. It too will not get loose and decay.

2: Mids
With a cleaner background, the mids are clearer, vocals are detailed and better definition. I do feel the mids are fuller and warm for certain vocal songs and there is a slight forwardness for the vocals that are packed with energy.

3: Highs
Its not a very authentic silver highs nor is it bright sounding and it will roll off slightly. There are also no spikes, I get a more acceptable and enjoyable detailed highs. It is definitely much more tamed.

4) Background and Soundstage

With litz configuration and the individual coating of each strand, the background is much more cleaner. The results are revealing, details do stand out more, poor audio sources are more noticeable. The separation for instruments are more distinct and layered, the soundstage has a slightly more width to it.

5) Overall Impression
The experience with this cable is truly remarkable, its a warmer and cleaner sounding for a silver cable. I am able to pair it with earpieces like from Vision Ears VE5 and VE6 X Control and Noble Audio Kaiser 10 and Katana. They do sound pretty darn good with this upgrade. Its a cable worth investing and able to match with a wider range of iems and ciems. Ultimately, its all down to personal preferences.
