I purchased this unit because I wanted something to go with my laptop and Audioengine 2 speakers. I wanted something reliable with repair available in the US vs sending the unit back to China with unknown freight and wait times. I hooked the unit up briefly and it works fine with no pops or noise. The sound is very neutral and my MP3's never sounded better.

How does it sound besides that? How does it resolve 24bit files?

You may have to fiddle with settings in your respective music player. It took me two weeks of adjusting to find the right buffer settings where I wouldn't get skip noises. Now that it's set up, it sounds beautiful. Nice black background with no noise whatsoever. I've tried up to 192khz and there are no problems, except when you switch rapidly from one format or resolution the other. If you get noise, just replay the song from the beginning, it seems to fix it. The DAC is built really nicely and feels solid. The optical works great, just remember to switch off DTS, etc.

Pros: smooth sound, compact size
Cons: not much bass
I got these to replace a pair of Klipsch Pro Media Ultra 2.0 which I gave to my 79 year old father in law. The Klipsch had better highs and a brighter overall sound which he could hear better. I like these because they have a nice smooth sound given the silk dome tweeter and for $100 I really can't complain. I suspect the M Audio series is better at their new lower price point but these are more compact.

I agree, on the more bass part for sure! Had these for a little over a year now and they still sound the same as they did out of the box. Great for the price but I recomend adding a sub-woofer for full effect :)

Pros: Readily available
Cons: no highs, boomy bass, noisy electronics with hum
First of all I do not like Bose products. This was my first purchase and I only bought these because I was in Bogota and there was NOTHING else available. These were what I expected. No tweeter means there were no highs to speak of. I also found the bass to be quite boomy which is what I expect the general uninformed public would like. There was noticeable noise when no music was playing as well as a pronounced hum. I didn't bother to return them because nothing else was available. There are many other much better options out there.
