So, I downloaded one of the samples from highdeftapetransfers.com, and I can play it as 24/96 flac in Play, but when I convert with Max to ALAC, I get a lot of static playing over the track in iTunes. What have I done wrong?

Hi, I am looking to purchase some IEMs for my Ipod classic 80gb. I have a lot of Apple Lossless but also many 128kbps aac from the itunes music store. If I bought UE super.fi 5 or super.fi 5 pros would the 128kbps sound terrible? Also, would I need an amp? Thank you.
