The Stax thread (New)
There is a review of the SR-009 online written by Chris Martens: http://www.avguide.com/review/stax-sr-009-electrostatic-earspeaker-playback-54 It is positive! As far as I know no Hifi-Magazine worldwide has reviewed the SR-009 yet.- Sennator

Question about amps for the Stax SR-009
Hello, I drive the SR-009 with the SRM-727 since 8 weeks now and I am very happy. Sound isn't bright nor bass shy. With dynamic amps I experienced that an own psu for each channel and two transformers add a lot more space to the soundstage. I wonder if it is possible to have separate power...- Sennator

easy balanced from DAC to HD650
I built a "balanced Szekeres" following dsavitsk's corrected "Variation 1" yesterday. Yes, the bottom of the source resistors have to be connected to the negative rail. Actually it is a clone of rjm's "Szekeres VE" without the virtual ground-channel and fed with inverted/non-inverted signal...- Sennator

easy balanced from DAC to HD650
Thank you alot for this advice! It's even easier than I expected. Great! Using Mosfets was my intention, too. So, "matching Mosfets" will be a new aspect of the hobby... DC-offset will be an issue since the DAC has 20mV in the CD mode. Zero in SACD mode. The implementation of volume...- Sennator

easy balanced from DAC to HD650
Hi group, many DACs (like CS4398, AKM, Sony..) have balanced voltage output. To check how much music really comes out there I connected my balanced HD650 DIRECTLY to the DAC for a moment: guess what...? No noise or any digital artefacts - music almost at full listening level with some SACDs ...- Sennator

Zapfilter as headphone amp
Hi! Just for testing (and for fun) I connected my balanced HD650 directly to the zapfilter's balanced output. WOW! Some questions: 1) What is the best way to add volume control? 2) Are any modifications necessary to make HD650 and zapfilter a perfect match? (changing Impedance, using...- Sennator

Help Me Find A Balanced Amplifier
I don't have a balanced amp yet. But I made the following experiences with my dual-mono amp: 1) separate cable to each side of the headphone adds space and resolution. I use 2 XLR plugs and gotham mini-quad for the replacement cables. 2) Using the balanced output of my SCD-player with my...- Sennator

Balanced = 2*Stereo ?
Hi all! I have an sacd-player with balanced output. I ask myself if a balanced headphone amp makes sense. Can anybody explain, why it sounds better? The studio standard is made for long cables we don't have at home.... When I connected the balanced output to my unbalanced headphone amp I...- Sennator

DIY HD600 Cable Upgrade?
Hello! New on this Forum but old problem... I want to build a replacement cable following the "Orpheus-design" from above. Consequent channel separation makes sense. Some questions: 1. Is shielding really necessary? 2. Doesn't the shield work as an EMI-antenna when connected to one side...
