Wow! Sennheiser HD 540 Reference are so good.
No need to be sorry, this is all subjective. I have the SHP8900, and I think they are pretty good for the money. I also have the higher end Philips HP1000, this is leaner on bass than the 8900, but I still consider it to be a superior headphone. IMO, the bass is exaggerated and I don't think...- luke99

Wow! Sennheiser HD 540 Reference are so good.
Bass seems OK to me. I really want to compare it to an HD600 as this seems to be the reference can still. I am hoping to build a SuSy balanced Dynalo and make some balanced leads for it, but I have so many projects, its probably a year out. So far my Dynalo serves me fine, but I expect balanced...- luke99

Wow! Sennheiser HD 540 Reference are so good.
Hi Guys, upon closer inspection, it was evident there was no glue on the wires, so I chanced it. I gently pried the cover off, and found that the driver was in pristine condition. What had happened was that deteriorated felt from the cushions had got into the driver via a hole in the rear, kinda...- luke99

Greq and Cosmomemory, thanks for your help. I think I will not risk it. The cans only sometimes on very bassy tracks make a slight distortion sound. Its not worth risking it. They usually are perfect and I cant tell they have a slight issue.- luke99

Its not bad enough to scrap it, its only on very low bass, which is why I think It may be mechanical problem, but I hear you :) I may try this, did you try bluetak?- luke99

Wow! Sennheiser HD 540 Reference are so good.
HI All, I bought some HD540 a while ago, and I noticed a slight vibration in one of the drivers. I disassembled it and tried to locate the source of the vibration to no avail. I did understand how to remove the white diaphragm cover over the driver and didn't want to rip it off. So I didn't...- luke99

Roll Call: Who's building, built, or thinking of building a beta22?
Judging by your avatar you would know:) I think it had AD8610 opamp but cant remember, I didn't have it long. At the time I think I had ATH-AD700 HP, which wasn't for me, so its hard to know why I decided to get rid of it. I'm not so much into opamp rolling, but I'm quite keen to try the new...- luke99

Roll Call: Who's building, built, or thinking of building a beta22?
I think its real name is an M cubed, its quite well known design: http://www.amb.org/audio/mmm/ The amp you are describing is I think the balanced version of the Dynalo I like so much. I get no glare or cold. I find it very transparent and neutral. It has dynamics and good bass. Dynamics is...- luke99

Roll Call: Who's building, built, or thinking of building a beta22?
Hi Jeremiah, I am quite curious about this amp but when I read warm and tube like I loose interest. I had an M3 and found it too soft and warm for my liking. Is the Beta22 a similar signature? My next amp will be a balanced dynalo, SE version is excellent so I'm going to try balanced but...- luke99

Dynalo (Rev.C) construction thread
Hi Ajuztam, all voltages are correct apart from the ones I have mentioned above. Transistors are all soldered, only the jfets use sockets and R11 and R14. Anyone else have any ideas?- luke99

Dynalo (Rev.C) construction thread
I had some problems with my Dynalo, but its going great. I could bias the front end as the trimpots were causing probs. It has Salas shunts and a separate capacitance multiplier psu. Will try and take some pics.- luke99

Thanks Guys, it works today. Must have clocked up 15 posts. Joe this is really hard to find, I tried searching and came up empty handed. If I could make a suggestion, maybe the error could explain what's wrong i.e you have to pst 15 times before being allowed to post a classified add?- luke99
