    car audio - Suggestions please!

I've done many car audio installs for myself, friends, and family. Needless to say there is a huge range of price, quality, and performance available in car audio components. If I'm remembering my cars right, your car has 6 1/2" components in all four doors. Easy enough to replace with anything...

Need Vin: 4-6V, Vout: 5.2V, buck-boost? Any Suggestions

Ok, so this isn't really audio related, but I bet someone here might have a good idea how to do it. I want to make a unit that takes 4 x AA batteries (4-7V cumulative) and outputs a regulated 5.2V hooked to a standard USB jack. This would be primarily for use with my Nintendo DS (for when I'm...

Better to have multiple "good" pairs, or one killer pair? POLL!

I'll take a few pairs of really good cans so I can use the pair that fits my mood / source / material of the momment. Then again, I don't have the budget to burn at the momment so anything truly killer is out of reach still.

    CNC CMOY Case and project....

Just in case it seemed like this project had fallen off the face of the Earth.... I'd been away from the soldering iron lately due to other distractions such as finishing up my mech. eng. degree, squaring away the details of my new job, and the general holiday hustle and bustle (not to...

    CNC CMOY Case and project....

Alright, it's been days since I've posted any updates to my project..... I was getting a bit burnt out at school and have just been way to busy lately, so I decided to just take a break from being productive. I had a nice few days of watching movies, hanging out with friends, and being...

Update time: Well I'm not done yet, I fell behind schedule since there was snow, ice, and tests to contend with. I had fun in the snow, but wasn't able to go driving around to pick up supplies easily. I still made it in to school every day this week though, since it wasn't that bad. After I...

I'm personally looking to get a machine from MaxNC , we have one in my deparment (the 10 open loop) and they're pretty cool little mills. I would move up to the 15. They aren't super powerful machines, but can handle aluminum nicely and are simple to use. I'd also like to get an X3 (in one of...

Nice setup there dcheming, how good are you at free-milling circles? If time permits I'll be making a case for my Alien DAC over finals week. I expect I'll have this project all finished up by mid next week if nothing goes horribly wrong (it's due Dec. 4th for my class, but it's done enough for...

    CNC CMOY Case and project....

I finally managed to get some good quality time in the shop today (I just skipped my two lectures and stayed in the shop all day). I managed to pretty well finish all the machining I needed to do. I obviously still need to buff and finish the case, but that's just some elbow grease and time...

Marshall Tool (local place) ordered me a 0.047" x 0.375", 4 flute carbide cutter. It was supposed to be here on Monday, but it still isn't here, I called Tue., said it'd be here today, but I'm not seeing it. I got home too late to call them today, so I'll have to call them tomorrow, and the...

    CNC CMOY Case and project....

Another day and still no EM... I did drill/tap/countersink the holes for connecting the two halfs of the case though. Anybody in the Seattle area know where I can just walk in and buy a really small (<1/16") EM with a .375" flute? I'm pretty much dead in the water until I get my miniature EM.

UPDATE (sorta): No EM yet, called them up, it'll be here tomorrow (Wed). I did make it in to the shop yesterday though. I didn't do much other than pull out a little more material from the edges of the pocket (I got distracted helping someone since the shop master was busy). I snapped another...

One of the local tool supply companies was placing an order this morning when I called to see if they had anything. They didn't, but they are ordering me an EM and dropping it off for nothing extra (amazing considering it's a $15 order). So I'll be getting the EM Monday afternoon, but won't...

I'm just machining 6061, nothing hard. A small 2 flute cutter would be ideal, I just want to be able to come in and clean up the corners a bit (maximizing my internal real estate) after I do a pass with the 0.25" EM. I'm just finding it hard to find a place that sells such small EMs directly...

While we're on the machining aspect, anybody know where I can get a small EM with at least a 0.375" flute that is <0.125" diameter? I've been looking at http://www.harveytool.com and they seem to have some rather small carbide EMs (down to 0.055") that might fit the bill, but I don't know how...

Alright, it's been some time since my last update. I finally managed to get some time in the shop today. Need Small DIY Amp for Apple Laptop.

Most speakers don't need more than a few watts of power to put out decent amounts of sound. The Micropods are only 87 db/W efficient, but they should play loud enough for casual listening with 10 W or less. If you want to give yourself a bit of a project, I would highly recommend a 41hz...
