Audeze - Our Maxwell Gaming Headsets! (latest: Firmware v61 and HQ v97)

Yeah. I've been around this "live service" world long enough that I never update anything if given a choice without looking at a change log first.

Strange there is no change log posted before the update went out. Still not posted.

Audeze - Our Maxwell Gaming Headsets! (latest: Firmware v61 and HQ v97)

I really liked the sound of the Maxwell when I got it but I have always struggled with the tuning of the bass. I dislike the elevated sub bass. The presets and EQ in the app are very limiting as I was searching for that classic Audeze bass sound from my LCD2C. I finally decided to figure it out...

Audeze - Our Maxwell Gaming Headsets! (latest: Firmware v61 and HQ v97)

Are there any plans to add any new EQ wizardry to the Maxwell software suite? After using the new Peace UI headphone equalizer assistant for Equalizer APO I am convinced that equalizing your ears to the equipment is paramount to an amazing sound stage. The Maxwell's sounded good with its stock...

Audeze - Our Maxwell Gaming Headsets! (latest: Firmware v61 and HQ v97)

Agreed. The subject is clear as mud for a lot of people. There is no one magic answer. There are many variables none of which are more important than the individuals ability to perceive a difference of above a certain bit rate. For me personally, I don't pay for any audio streaming service tier...

Audeze - Our Maxwell Gaming Headsets! (latest: Firmware v61 and HQ v97)

Ignore the marketing words and verbiage. The transmission technology can't get anywhere close to 1400 kilobits per second of CD quality audio let alone high resolution audio. The fact that it can transmit 24-bit 48 kHz audio is just marketing. And that's not bashing on the Maxwell. That's with...

Audeze - Our Maxwell Gaming Headsets! (latest: Firmware v61 and HQ v97)

Good question. Doesn't really interest me either way. If so it's really weird product marketing. (Let's shove a bunch of tech in this thing and let people know it's in here a little bit at a time?)

There are some comments above. Seems like this is for people creating content for Dolby Atmos music tracks. I can't see where this has anything to do with traditional gaming where you are looking straight at a monitor all the time. Seems really gimmicky for a gaming headset.

Audeze - Our Maxwell Gaming Headsets! (latest: Firmware v61 and HQ v97)

I agree with head tracking being next to worthless for the fixed monitor gaming that I do. It makes more sense for VR but even that is just as niche as a planar gaming headset. Perhaps with PlayStations VR system and their own version of the Maxwell coming out it will add up to something...

Hmm. If you have done a factory reset on the dongle and headset I would open a ticket with Audeze support. Hmm. If you have done a factory reset on the dongle and headset and it's still borked I would open a ticket with Audeze support.

I would try the dongle/headset repairing process documented in this thread. Not sure why Audeze said you would need to do this but I didn't. Maybe that would fix your issue. In the previous photo I didn't see that your headset was connected at all. If your headset is on and connected to the...

What version of the desktop app are you on? The latest is 3.1.80 I think.

Will Audeze be making stock replacement pads available? I would very much be interested in a real leather replacement pad. Just like on the LCD line I like the feel of real leather over the protein leather pads.

That or there is some form of noise gate on the mic that triggers above a certain input level. At this point if they couldn't fix it in a 3 month time span and this current fix is what they came up with, I think it is what it is.

Audeze - Our Maxwell Gaming Headsets! (latest: Firmware v61 and HQ v97)

I would assume any mic with a 3.5mm plug would work if you could het it to fit in the specifically cut mic hole. Honestly my friends tell me the boom mic is not all that different than the built in mics.

Audeze - Our Maxwell Gaming Headsets! (latest: Firmware v61 and HQ v97)

Mine went from white noise to the weird static all on the last firmware so really weird. The new firmware didn't change anything for me except the volume gain of the side tone being lowered. I just wish companies would just say what it is instead of employing the rope-a-dope. It just makes them...

Audeze - Our Maxwell Gaming Headsets! (latest: Firmware v61 and HQ v97)

I wonder if Audeze will release a wireless in-ear version of the Maxwell that can connect to more things that a ps5 and a sold separately proprietary dongle.

Audeze - Our Maxwell Gaming Headsets! (latest: Firmware v61 and HQ v97)

I can confirm this on mine as well. I used to have side tone on 42 when I used it. I now have to have it on 75 to get the same volume. When I turn it up to 75 for it to be usable the same static and crackle is there that was there before. So I am not seeing the point. It is very strange...

Audeze - Our Maxwell Gaming Headsets! (latest: Firmware v61 and HQ v97)

Fair point. However Audeze has been pointing to its guides over and over again in regards to various talking point about Maxwell functionality in this thread. Subjective taste is one thing. Reviewing a products documented features and having no idea what it actually does is another. I watch...

Audeze - Our Maxwell Gaming Headsets! (latest: Firmware v61 and HQ v97)

Zeos is good review entertainment. That's about all the stock I put into him. He lost me when he didn't know to use aux out instead of headphone out on an amp. He also had no idea what the AI noise suppression was actually for. Then raving over features like chat mix that have been on headsets...

Audeze - Our Maxwell Gaming Headsets! (latest: Firmware v61 and HQ v97)

Directional/positional sound comes from driver matching and tuning. The more precise the driver matching the more precise the directional sound and aided by the tuning of the headset. I am not sure driver matching can be fixed with firmware as driver matching can vary from unit to unit and...

Audeze - Our Maxwell Gaming Headsets! (latest: Firmware v61 and HQ v97)

Looking at the SteelSeries changelogs, it looks like they lump fixes for all there devices into a software suite update. Not all of their patches have anything to do with audio. Keyboard, mice, and other peripheral patches and updates dominate. Yes there are more frequent updates but most have...

Audeze - Our Maxwell Gaming Headsets! (latest: Firmware v61 and HQ v97)

The Maxwell does not take advantage of a true exclusive mode. I have found this out through this. A second advantage of the excusive mode is that it eliminates a second volume to manage. Music app volume, windows volume/Maxwell volume. The issue is that when the Maxwell is set to 24/96 to...

Audeze - Our Maxwell Gaming Headsets! (latest: Firmware v61 and HQ v97)

Thank you for the response. I am aware of the specs of the Maxwell. Can you clue me in on a music streaming platform that streams 16/48 music content? Also. Since Maxwell does not handshake to true exclusive mode, how is that I need to make sure the conversion is being done properly on the...
