USB DAC/Headphone Amp
My mistake, they all do -- I had just checked a few and at first glance the DAC was what was advertised and mentioned nothing about amplification.- Gregory_WE

USB DAC/Headphone Amp
Several of those are only DACs and have no headphone amplifier. One USB DAC/Amp that's always popular and a good value is the Fiio E10. They just released the updated E10K which is supposed to be an upgrade over the original.- Gregory_WE

[Impression] FiiO E10
The sense that I got from talking with FiiO and the little bit of info they were willing to disclose was that the E10k should be more durable and reliable. It remains to be seen whether there will be any DAC or amp changes. Expect it to be out later this year.- Gregory_WE

What happened to the fiio e10?
The store I bought it from (BuyDig) said they don't have any sort of RMA agreement set up w/ Fiio. It's strange because they're listed as an authorized reseller. So anyways after talking with both them and Fiio, the only way I could get it repaired under warranty was to ship it to China- Gregory_WE

What happened to the fiio e10?
Yes definitely, that's their key point in the market -- that it's good performance wise for the cost. If the price goes up it's not such an easy choice.- Gregory_WE

[Impression] FiiO E10
According to here (http://www.head-fi.org/t/710952/what-happened-to-the-fiio-e10) the word is that the E10k will be out in the middle of this year. I was looking around and noticed that the E10 was becoming hard to find. I may have to buy another one because the jack broke on my E10 and I...- Gregory_WE

What happened to the fiio e10?
Thanks for finding out about that, I was curious too. I wonder if the components will be upgraded? If so I'll definitely buy one assuming it's not priced higher than the E10 was- Gregory_WE

[New] Philips Fidelio X1
I A/B'd the DT 880, DT 990, and X1s several weeks ago. The X1s were far more comfortable for me; I found the 880 the least comfortable and the 990 kind of in-between. The Beyer pads don't have much cushion to keep the tips of your ears from touching the inside of the cups (they're shallow, my...- Gregory_WE

[New] Philips Fidelio X1
Oh definitely no reason to have buyer's remorse getting these at $150 -- highly unlikely the X2 would be both much better and anywhere near that price.- Gregory_WE

[New] Philips Fidelio X1
To go along with the above, has anyone got word from Philips on whether you can send them your headphones for pad replacement, or will be able to do so in the near future? It's not ideal, but if after a few years I need to pay $50 for that service then I'm fine with it given the original cost of...- Gregory_WE

DT880 vs DT990 | Comparison & Review
Thank you for the review!! I'm sitting here with both the DT 880s and DT 990s in front of me. I thought I was crazy in finding the 880s very uncomfortable! Glad to hear I'm sane in this respect. I was considering getting another pair just to make sure I didn't get a mis-shaped one. Yes, my ears...- Gregory_WE

The Deals DISCUSSION Thread (READ THE FIRST POST!!!)
The DT 880s that Amazon will have on lightning deal -- are they going to be the 250 Ohm or 600 Ohm? Hoping for the 250 since my E10 may not be enough for the 600- Gregory_WE

The Deals DISCUSSION Thread (READ THE FIRST POST!!!)
Why do you say that? I'm not familiar with them but I'm considering investing in some new IEMs to upgrade my MEElec M6 (budget I know but turns out I end up using them a lot more than my more expensive cans) Also, they're definitely still available at Amazon- Gregory_WE

New motherboard's headphone output is noisy with my IEMs, mostly clean with headphones. Best option?
Ended up going with the E10 after lots of reading. Thought about the E17 as well, but I don't need the portability- Gregory_WE

New motherboard's headphone output is noisy with my IEMs, mostly clean with headphones. Best option?
My old motherboard (ASRock Extreme4-m) had Realtek ALC-898 and overall the quality seemed alright. At the very least, I had no noise from its output with my IEMs or othwerise. Obviously nothing audiophile quality, but "good enough". I replaced it with a Gigabyte G1.Sniper M3, which comes...- Gregory_WE

Best replacement tips for MEElectronics M6?
So the hybrids will likely give a better seal or be more comfortable? One issue I have with the small tips I'm using right now is that they're a bit uncomfortable. They do seal well and sound good, tough.- Gregory_WE

Best replacement tips for MEElectronics M6?
I've been using mine for a few weeks and I do like them, but I'm not sure on the quality of the seal I'm getting. For the most part, I've been using the smallest tips as they seem to give the best SQ. Are there any tips that would fit the M6 that you'd recommend trying? Sony Hybrids were...- Gregory_WE

Deciding on a few earphones in the $50-$70 range based on my preferences
I found the SCL3s for $59, but is there any concern of fakes? Regardless, though, I'm not sure how I would do with Shures since as I understand it they need to be inserted quite deeply into the ear canal, and since I've never tried and IEM I'd be worried that I'd find it very uncomfortable. A...- Gregory_WE

Deciding on a few earphones in the $50-$70 range based on my preferences
I glanced at them a little bit... the NE-7M looks like it could be a good option, although it's odd how it's designed to be used with phones (not something I would be able to use w/ my current cell) and has a microphone. I am also unsure how I feel about the brass-coloring.- Gregory_WE

Deciding on a few earphones in the $50-$70 range based on my preferences
I've never had canalphones/IEMs before (coming from ATH-A500), but I would like some for portability, and plus the A500 is over 3.5 years old and suffering from wear and tear. Price range: $50-$75, I believe past that I'll be getting diminishing returns and don't want something very expensive...- Gregory_WE

It'd be easier for me to just order from that site that I'd get the plug from, so is this fine for the iron? http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showd...number=370-010 And then for the solder: http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showd...number=370-096 And a stand...- Gregory_WE
