Mentioning firmware just because personally I thought the latest update seems to not activate the Class-A amp when not in use. Previously leaving that turned on while on standby drains much battery.

From what I understand, it depends much on what you're driving, I.e.: the iem or headphone that you're using. The power draw is dependent on that. That said my experience with HD650 iirc is that the difference is not huge. Not more than 10/100 volume adjustments required to normalize

Ah! I should qualify: personally loud for continuous commute usage, I.e.: >30min or so. On IEMs, my commute volume don't go over 30; typically 25, and 28 if it's exceptionally noisy outside. The occupational health folks at my ex-workplace once had a booth to educate about NID. Had a set-up...

Wow! 75/100 is loud? I have my R5II limited at 50/100 volume level as I don't even go to 40 while using my HD650. :D @Cryanheh I believe this review might help? He also has the correct hardwares for your needs.

Seems like this update kinda alleviates the battery drain when "Class-A" amp is left on while on standby. Been a few weeks where there isn't a significant difference to standby battery drain whether Class A was turned on or not. Very much appreciate it!

Hmmm... I didn't have these WiFi issues so far. Mainly use Spotify myself, with some saving of my main playlists on device.

Never tried fully ECO mode on a charge before... But yes this is true. Haha

What I know from my own use: - to use as wifi tether, I have to select tethering on my phone when selecting r5ii. - to use as "dongle", after have done the above previously, forget R5II and reconnect but for media. I may be wrong, but I think they're not simultaneously possible.

It'll probably become the very listenable Android DAP that has a long battery life. Would it have convinced me to go away from and let go of dongles? 15% less chance of it happening, at the very least.

Not an owner, but this makes me wonder. Especially since the R5ii have the Class-A implementation.

"For best results between Class-A and non-Class-A, find out the optimal gain setting." - me :D Was performing sighted A/B-ing between a same track on deezer and <redacted> using HD650, R5ii on high gain, Class-A. High gain because HD650. Can really hear the difference between the two, and makes...

Nah. No UAPP. I prefer the sounds from deezer/spotify :)

Just tried out tidal yesterday: it's noticable at the very start of app usage, and also if i pick a particular section of a track while playback is occuring. Unfolding origami needs patience~~~~ :D

Not 600, but 650 here. I usually set to high gain and the max volume i go is 40 out of 100. Sticky? How eh?

I'd say: Hey now you have an additional layer of protection! Unless if it affects the touch screen sensitivity too much... :D

I'm currently up to only Deezer lossless streaming (no Qobuz here, no Tidal for me :D). No issues. Runs the same as Spotify high quality.

Spotify main here. No issue streaming, though I usually will download my main playlists to turn off wifi. If you're used to higher end phones, start up may get a tad slower, but once it's loaded up, you'll not notice.

Echo chamber here: Turning off A-class personally feels like the sounds are squished together. It is not bad; when out and about this is non-issue and the battery life helps.

Ooo something to note of then... For the record, I've not have that issue before. If useful, the only installed apps on my device is Spotify and Deezer.

If anything I'm waiting for a review which is critical of it's sound quality.

Hold it; are we saying DAPs' hardware implementation doesn't affect how the output is?

Maybe it's me choosing another genre of music after the update, but the soundstage on A is huge~
