You have lived a lifetime compared to what I have done sitting in front of a desk for 30 years and only been to 5 countries for maybe a total of a few weeks.

You're living the life I would dream of seeing ever part of the world and nothing to hold you back.

No worries. It's all fair game once it's out here in the interweb. I can take a little ribbing :)

It took a few years and it's not a cable I found where I could borrow it. I'm happy with it 💪

I finally got myself a set of these KS-1136 balanced XLR cables. They're about $4100 per meter so insane. Almost doesn't make sense in my system because they are more expensive than the components they are connecting. But wow, it's like upgrading from iPhone dongle to an HugoTT2. The...

    McIntosh MHA200 Impressions

First hour with the brand new KS-1136. Whoa this is going to need some burn in. 1) Very detailed and extremely bright, but very smooth. 2) Extreme sub-bass, noticeably attinuated. 3) Upper bass so tight, never heard anything like this level of upper bass mid bass improvement (or simply the...

    McIntosh MHA200 Impressions

Hello Jason, You're always great for getting advice. TheSourceAV is a great place to visit and bring home something that adds more smiles every time. I decided after three years of enjoying the MHA200 to go for the KS1136 XLR Interconnects. Go big or go home :)

Sony WM1AM2 and WM1ZM2 Android Walkman Optimization Guide

Does anyone know what could be the longer term effects of setting the volume on 100% from the 1Zm2 for years on end? Will this quickly wear out the Sony? I did find a solid state headphone amp that is okay with the Sony. The Beyerdynamics A20 is okay, it definitely gives a much larger soundstage...

Sony WM1AM2 and WM1ZM2 Android Walkman Optimization Guide

I beg your pardon, yes mine does. I miswrote. I have it on high gain all the time; however, it doesn't seem to produce that much more gain. It is more like a low and medium gain rather than a normal and high gain with the IEMs I like to use. But again, probably being too critical? The Sony...

Sony WM1AM2 and WM1ZM2 Android Walkman Optimization Guide

I've gone back to listening to my Kann Cube for my Viking Ragnar. I miss the power and wonder if adding a C9 or Topaz to the Sony would make it sound more like an RS8 or Kann? I love the Sony sound, but find it doesn't hit notes hard on rare occasions when I want it. A higher gain would have...

Sony WM1AM2 and WM1ZM2 Android Walkman Optimization Guide

Or, it might be more about my ability to remember what it sounded like before changing everything :) All of these tips are great. And if the Sony is working less to playback off of SD cards, chances are that it's performing up to its full theoretical potential. I have a RS8, SP2000, and the...

Sony WM1AM2 and WM1ZM2 Android Walkman Optimization Guide

Yes definitely less to load into memory helps with the cold boot up times. I think also opening the Sony app maybe quicker too from an already booted up hardware.

Sony WM1AM2 and WM1ZM2 Android Walkman Optimization Guide

I may not be able to clearly discern the audible improvement, but in theory I completely agree. If the reduction in time to rebuild a 13,000 song library is done in 40% less time, something has made the Walkman faster. It's working less in order to accomplish the same task. I really like the...

Sony WM1AM2 and WM1ZM2 Android Walkman Optimization Guide

Ah, I was wondering about the wallpapers, thank you. I am happy where it is. And it would only be trying to satisfy my need to keep the Sony as pure as possible, which apparently has high risk. I'll not touch it anymore. I definitely would not want to have to figure out how to make a...

Sony WM1AM2 and WM1ZM2 Android Walkman Optimization Guide

I am tempted to take everything off the Sony that is hinting at being telemetry, telematics, telephony, or just plain old phone. You can tell Android is at it's heart a phone operating system so there might be a risk of some of these apps being core functionality? Or, Sony is just using the...

Sony WM1AM2 and WM1ZM2 Android Walkman Optimization Guide

I did a rest to factory several times to locate the application. I am fine now. There is no downside other than loosing the accumulated time on the balanced port and single ended port data. Oh well :)

Sony WM1AM2 and WM1ZM2 Android Walkman Optimization Guide

I believe there is a sonic improvement, but like I said it is not so obvious that I can remember the differences from 30 minutes prior to completing the uninstall of the majority of the bloatware. One performance metric that is quite obvious is not only the memory occupied by the my final...

I am pretty happy so far with the results. Maybe went a bit too far since now I can't seem to find the play store even though I have not uninstalled the applications marked *.gms I don't know why there is no longer any registration of the application on Android... The walkman sounds nice, I...

Sony WM1AM2 and WM1ZM2 Android Walkman Optimization Guide

I tried an experiment and removed the text to speech Marvin Talk. It saves considerable amount of ram. Is there any consequences to it? So far I haven't found a problem. Total of 28% reduction in memory consumption. By the way, from the out of box to now is 1Gb of RAM reduction! I'm old, I...

Sony WM1AM2 and WM1ZM2 Android Walkman Optimization Guide

FYI The amount of ram saved is considerable. My unit went from 1767MB/3597MB to 1399MB/3597MB so a savings of 10% memory. That's a lot of junk that was sitting in memory doing nothing useful for audio. I kept the Google Play Store.

Thank you for this guide. I can't say for sure how much of an improvement I am experiencing after uninstalling the unneeded applications; however, I am enjoying the smoothness and clarity of my 1Zm2 and Noble Ragnar combination. My Sony sounds effortless which is wonderful and relaxing. However...
