USB-C to 3.5mm adapters (DAC) - Let's find the best
Let's find the best. Certainly most dongles are sufficient for most undemanding loudspeakers. But when we're talking about the 'best', we are really discerning. Any noise, any low power output, obvious audible issues and you're out. If we're restricting to just Windows 10 usage, I vote for...- Star Mastering

USB-C to 3.5mm adapters (DAC) - Let's find the best
Although Apple and Meizu do not show off any gold plated gorgeousness, it's what's inside that counts. These cheap yet overpriced gold plated ones look good but aren't made for listening. It is also worth pointing out that the USB A to USB C adapters used to be longer but are becoming shorter...- Star Mastering

USB-C to 3.5mm adapters (DAC) - Let's find the best
Let's find the best I'll share my worthless thoughts on dongles with interested audio adapter fans here. It took 3 months for me to get 4 DACs today. 2 weeks from mainland to HK, cargo ship stuck in HK for 2 months, 1 month to get to the destination, stuck in customs for 1 week, another 5 days...- Star Mastering

Sony budget earphone discussion thread (MH750, MH755, MH1C, EX300, etc)
Is the MH75x really all that good to justify such extensive means of getting them? For now I am just wondering whether the MH755 (orange and white) could possibly not be a fake. But I had mistakenly thought that MH750s are often fakes.- Star Mastering

SONY NW-ZX500
Viewed in light of the previous post, Sony's investments definitely aren't impressive. They're definitely more like what the common investor would do. Still, it's called 'strategic'. Applesque. Not doing r&d as much as tax evasion. But haven't Apple wireless headphones, M1 chips, and the thin...- Star Mastering

SONY NW-ZX500
I'm sure CEOs with a strong engineering background, talented economics mindset, and a carefree playful extravagance (while cutting waste) are lining up ready to go when Yoshida is done. In the meantime I don't think any of us can really grapple with the sheer size that Sony Group is to determine...- Star Mastering

ICD-UX533F (JP) came with E706 earbuds They were incredible sounding when I tried them with WAV files in 2015. Of course, it was short lived. E706 only sounded good at loud volumes, and it was too easy to drive. ICD-UX533F, unlike its predecessors in the UX family, had an unfortunate audible...- Star Mastering

Sony budget earphone discussion thread (MH750, MH755, MH1C, EX300, etc)
No doubt there are people who never take any interest in audio, for whom the cheapest earbuds and random audio jacks in phones etc are sufficiently satisfying and capable of delivering good sound. They are likely the main adopters of the wireless boom. Generally, the most rare sight is a person...- Star Mastering

Regarding the MDR-EX750/IER-NW750N, IER-H500A /IER-NW500N, IER-NW510N distinction, they are all Walkman A series specific earphones. Some could do binaural recording with Xperia. NW510N is the 6 mm driver IEM for NW-A100 series, with a strange shape that hides in the ear. MDR-EX750 is notable...- Star Mastering

Sony Walkman custom firmware (non-Android)
I started off with just onboard audio from laptops, including my favourite but outdated VAIO DSD. I was limited to 24/48 on the newest laptop, and felt intense frustration. No DSD under $100 either. All that changed in 2020, when, what had only been a pricey COZOY TAKT PRO in 2018, exploded into...- Star Mastering

Absolute best budget earbuds?
I will try to correct the bass and distortion on MH410c, because it has potential, and its quality is not as bad as current earbuds which really suck.- Star Mastering

Very insightful info on MH410c from Xperias! One might consider both covering the buds and tweaking EQ at 20 Hz, 3 kHz, 6 and 9 kHz. But yeah, these are one of the better buds and I think some tweaking would be good.- Star Mastering

[AMA] Just received my IER-H500A from sony
IER-H500A, particularly on aliexpress, is actually a very good pairing with the A45/A55 Walkman, although many have expressed dissatisfaction with IER-NW500N, its noise cancelling brother model. Something loosely termed 'synergy' is at play here. At least, this pair is optimal and would have...- Star Mastering

It does measure better than m40x except for its treble which has a dip at 5 khz you should EQ it? Difference is that m40x has lower impedance, less windings of the coil. Gets louder. Clearly it is a feature and driver difference – 30x and 20x have same specs, but 40x and 50x share same specs...- Star Mastering

Anyone seen the new Yamaha eph series (eph 22, 32, 52)?
'Elegant design paired with natural reproduction of musical instrument sounds.' Yamaha is best suited to monotonal sound, like piano. EPH-52 I've had since 2017 definitely satisfied me due to the surprise discovery that it was actually a hires capable product (40kHz) but hadn't had the hires...- Star Mastering
