Moving up
I've wanted to upgrade to a better headphone amp now for a while and finally have decided to move ahead with it. Right now I'm using a schitt lyr with some HE500's. I'm looking to go a bit higher up the food chain. Originally I was set on getting an EF-6 but here lately I've been curious about...- BMBROWN911

Moving up the food chain!
I've been using the schitt mjolnir and Lyr for a quite a while now and am ready to move on and up the amplifier food chain. My main set of cans are the HiFi man HE500's which I love and was pretty set on a EF-6 to power them after reading some good things about it. Recently though I became...- BMBROWN911

Possible ground loop issue?
The sound I'm hearing is a very loud buzzing. Not a hum. If it wasn't very loud I would tolerate it but it's so loud that it hurts my ears to listen for much more then a minute. -
Possible ground loop issue?
Used an outlet tester. Everything checked out. Dont think its the amp. Works fine in the other. At a loss. -
Possible ground loop issue?
May just get in touch with them if all else fails. Im not real smart when it comes to electrical components. Opening it up would serve no purpose for me. -
Possible ground loop issue?
I don't even have one of those on hand. Will have to pick one up and post the results. -
Possible ground loop issue?
Recently my address has changed and since hooking up all my gear I've noticed something strange which I've never encountered before. My mjolnir is producing a horribly obnoxious buzzing sound that is very loud. I also have a lyr and can plug into the exact same outlet and not experience any...- BMBROWN911

Schiit Mjolnir headphone amplifier
I just bought a Mjolnir used off of these forums and while I've been through a lot of different amps over the years never a balanced setup. I'm using it with balanced HD600's and it completely changed the character of these. I've never heard anything even close to this kind of high quality...- BMBROWN911

Schiit or Graham Slee or Lehmann or Violectric?
When I owned the SRG I really loved it and kept it for a long time. It was detailed and articulate but not to the point that it became distracting. The only thing I wished it would of performed better at was that it seemed to lack a little in the bass department. Probably one of the most bass...- BMBROWN911

Schiit or Graham Slee or Lehmann or Violectric?
The main difference too my knowledge of the diamond edition and the original Ultra Linear was that when the original Ultra Linear came there were some issues with a slight hiss when using low impedance headphones. Mainly grados and such. The diamond edition was released to correct this along...- BMBROWN911

Schiit or Graham Slee or Lehmann or Violectric?
I used to own the Solo SRG which came before the Novo. The original SRG and the Novo are actually nearly identical in their abilities. It wasn't until the SRG II came along that the Solo began to pull away from the Novo sound quality wise. I've never heard the SRGII but have always wanted too. I...- BMBROWN911

Schiit or Graham Slee or Lehmann or Violectric?
For what it's worth I own the Schitt Lyr and have had extended auditions with the Novo and Slee Ultra Linear. I actually liked both better then my Lyr but would say that the Novo and Lyr are pretty comparable. I've never heard the SRG II but did own the original SRG and loved it. The main...- BMBROWN911

Schiit Magni Headphone Amplifier
Don't all the Beats headphones that are noise canceling have a built in headphone amplifier? As far I know your not suppose to plug them into any headphone amps. That might explain why that happened. I've plugged all sorts of different impedances into my Lyr and never had any issues. I listen at...- BMBROWN911

HD600 Cable
Indeed. Thanks for the clarification. -
HD600 Cable
A while ago I had to buy a replacement cable for my HD600's so I decided to cut the headphone jack off of the old cable so I could see the wires. I was expecting to see 4 wires on each side since I thought I had read that it was a 4 conductor cable or whatever they call it but when I cut off...- BMBROWN911

Graham Slee Solo update?
I've never understood the qualms with the looks of Grahams gear. The looks are what first drew me to his amps and I still think they look awesome. I guess I have weird tastes.- BMBROWN911

Where to go from here...?
Little backstory first. I got into higher end headphone listening about 9 years ago starting with the cheapo Koss headphones everyone here recommends so much moving on from there to the Grado SR60 and finally to the Senn. HD600's. By that point it was clear I needed to start thinking of a higher...- BMBROWN911

Schiit Lyr - The tube rolling thread
Hey people, whats a good place to start for a noob tube roller? I've been using the NOS tubes that come with the Lyr now for over a year and would like to try something better all around. Just looking to get a taste of what some of the better tubes are. Without going to equisite right off the...- BMBROWN911
