Wow. That's beefier than I was going for. The data sheet shows 16uf smoothing. I'll breadboard yours I think. Thanks

Uprating any audio power supply is a good idea. I was thinking doing just that. I have a couple of Chinese 6Z4 rectifiers an wondered about using them instead.

    Little Dot Mk II Rebuild

One of the reasons I'm going to do it is to replace the 6n6 sockets with octal. I prefer 6sn7s on the back line. My tuppence worth is that uprating the components especially the coupling caps will make a significant difference. And yes, it will be fun too.

Thanks for that. Looking forward to starting.

    Little Dot Mk II Rebuild

That would be handy. I'm starting to gather components for my build. I reckon there's no harm in going tighter on the tolerances and higher on the wattages. And metal film resistors where you can. The best quality caps I can afford will be a must

Little Dot Tube Amps: Vacuum Tube Rolling Guide

Do you have a multimeter? Can you check the heater voltages on the sockets. They should be 6.3v or there abouts (mine are 6.5) if it the fault moves with the valve it's probably the valve itself. Sometines the heater wire might be slightly different. You could measure the resistance across the...

I'll DL that and have a read. Thank you. I have a small but useful homebuilt triode tester. I'm wondering I'd I made a box with a 7 pin socket on strapped up like a triode, I could test my pentodes.

Can anyone explain to me what the jumpers do when swapping between ef95 and EF91 tubes? As far as I can make out, for EF91 the jumper connects the cathode to the g3. Whereas the jumper is off for EF95 as the connection is already made in the tube. Am I correct?

    Little Dot Mk II Rebuild

This is seriously nice. I love my LD mk2 but always felt extra space for decent caps and a decent pot and a meatier psu. Mines developed an intermittent fault so the time is right to think about this rebuild. I'm going to start planning mine. I think Octal bases for the back line as I love my...

Little Dot Tube Amps: Vacuum Tube Rolling Guide

I'm thinking the power supply side of things as the LED is off. I've ordered a capacitor tester. The smoothing caps are rated at 250v max yet the schematic shows the transformer has 175v output. After smoothing that dangerously close to the max of the cap. I'm gutted, I love my liitle dot.

I'm afraid it won't sound good on mine - it went 'phut!' last night. LED flickers slightly on power up and there's a massive hum.

Little Dot Tube Amps: Vacuum Tube Rolling Guide

No, it's not crazy. The LDs are great amps and would respond well to modding. I didn't want to drill the case at all on my mod. So I removed one of the audio out RCAs and fitted a dpdt switch (locking type to avoid dusting accidents) in its place. I then ran wires with little push fit connectors...

No, can't say I've had a problem. If I can find a cheap 'spares or repair' one on ebay, I might have a go.
