Is there any evidence that all of these are not snake oil? Like measurements or blind a/b testing against cheap atom?

Interestingly, I initially had similar experience. But after one week of listening they became totally Ok to me, maybe because of brain/headphones burn in.

PHA-3 is not powerful at all according to specs: 320mW on 32 Ohm comparing to 1W for JDS Atom..

Interestingly that 3 popular youtubers criticized z7m2, while this thread with impressions from real owners is much more positive.

So, I take back my words about recessed vocals, looks like it is just different sound signature I didn't experience before. Now my brain rewired to it after two days of listening and vocals sound fine.

I agree about 1AM2, I enjoyed sound signature out of the box too. So in my humble opinion (your ears may be different) Z7M2 sounds unusual, and may be risky choice for you.

Curious if Z7 different from Z7M2 in this regards. Several people noticed the same. Also some people say that Z7M2 provide more instrumental details, like finger snapping etc, I suspect it may be partially because vocals are recessed and other sounds are more noticeable.

As I mentioned I have 2 other headphones, and I EDed them both to get best sound: - DT770 is too bright and fatiguing in my taste, and needed bath boost - 1000XM3 has too moody bath What headphones you have/consider which doesn't need EQ? Especially closed back?

btw, maybe somebody could recommend EQ settings for z7m2?

So, how is that? How 5200 stacks against Sony and Elegia in your experience?

Several Amazon reviews say they have smaller cavity and folks complain that they don't completely encapsulate ears, which I guess would be unpleasant. Did you notice this issue yourself?

I read many feedbacks, and my understanding is that Z7 is much more laid back and non-fatigue, while 1770 is more aggressive and into your face, so maybe you like 1770 tonality more. Also they now have Z7M2 which has less bass and more clarity.

And why did you dislike z7 exactly?..
