Creative Sound blaster E5 - Headphone amp + USB DAC with OTG + Toslink + aptX + recording + more.

It's a pity, that it does not disable charging through the USB-A-Host-Port as well. Because i own a "OnePlus Two" Smartphone, which tries to draw around 2A from that USB-Port. The E5 get's detected by the phone and connected, however it also get's tortured: The Voltage of that port dropped to...

Creative Sound blaster E5 - Headphone amp + USB DAC with OTG + Toslink + aptX + recording + more.

I tried this yesterday and it did not work - however after upgrading to the latest Firmware today it works. Power-LED is blinking and battery is not charging anymore. :-)

Creative Sound blaster E5 - Headphone amp + USB DAC with OTG + Toslink + aptX + recording + more.

Hi Splungeworthy,   1. you can use this for TOSLINK:  or a cable like this:    On the same jack there is analog LINE-IN and LINE-OUT. You cannot use TOSLINK + Analog simultaneously.     2. electrical power specs:   For power-specs of the headphone out, you can orientate yourself at the...

OPPO HA-2 Portable Headphone Amplifier/DAC Discussion Thread

Thanks for the information, i'll drop him a line. Year, i'd rather import it myself; the import taxes in Liechtenstein are so low anyway... Imported is 272€ without shipping. Buying directly from Germany is 400€ without shipping. That's crazy!     kind regards Fabian

OPPO HA-2 Portable Headphone Amplifier/DAC Discussion Thread

Well, i tried your link, but i am still not confident somehow.   => Do i really have to print that out, fill it in by hand and send that as a letter to OPPO? => Why is there no HA-2 on the Offline Order Form? (see screenshots) => Why am i not able to print it out? (see screenshots)    ...

    Vienna/Austria Meet, July 11, 2015

Hey Guys! Because i am not very active on Head-Fi, i was hugely happy to get notified that Edgar has PM'ed me. Since i could not attend the last meet, i am even more curious to get to know some of you personally. I will bring in: => JDS Labs C5D => Stoner Acoustics Set (UD120 + RUBY) =>...

    JDS Labs C5/C5D (pg96) portable amp/amp+DAC

I have the C5D now for quite a while, and i am still very happy with it. Today i discovered the "ultimate combination" - The C5D in combination with the HD600 and the BassBoost in the "Low"-Position. That's a match - made in heaven.  This gives the cold neutrality of the HD600s some warmth and...

"Leo: Vintage Analog Sound from any Modern Device"

Anyone tried this Leo out yet? Shipping started on May 17th. I was cancelling my pledge earlier, because i had some doubt. There was no detailed technical details available, for example, which opamps they use. They sell it now through an online store for $99.  ...

    Next Vienna/Austria meet: April 18th, 2015

Hi together,   due to some circumstances i had to left lower austria today and travel home over the weekend. So i'll have to cancel my visit to vienna tomorrow. It's very sad, i would have loved to come by for the meet. :-( I hope that this was not the last opportunity in the next year's...

    JDS Labs C5/C5D (pg96) portable amp/amp+DAC

The whole circuit is designed around the PCM5102A pairing up with the SaviAudio USB receiver, outputting the correct data stream to the DAC chip, and also the clocks, power rails and surrounding DAC circuitry. I can't imaging that they can just whack in another DAC chip...

    Tiny DAC, Big Sound, Evolved – Stoner Acoustics UD100 / UD110 / UD120

I just got my second UD120 vom Stoner Acoustics. After having troubles with the first UD120 and complaining about the bad soldering-quality of the cable inside the UD120-case, causing some loose-connections and really annoying hum-sounds. The new UD120 i just got don't has any of the problems...

    JDS Labs C5/C5D (pg96) portable amp/amp+DAC

hi,   i have a question regarding the battery runtime of the C5D. for me there is no chance to come near to the claimed 6-8 hours. I tried today with a fresh loaded battery and after 4 hours of constant listening (while train travelling), the green LEDs started to flash. I did not try to...

    Next Vienna/Austria meet: April 18th, 2015

Hi together,   i'm a mainly passive head-fi user, and more often active on the german HiFi-Forum under the same username. In the last head-fi newsletter i read about an upcomming meet in Vienna. I was totally excited about that, because usually nobody around me shares the same enthusiasm in...

    JDS Labs C5/C5D (pg96) portable amp/amp+DAC

I have again a defective unit of a C5D. Does anybody also experience problems while using it with the iphone? It stops working, and something in the firmware gets deleted. (as jds labs told me) It's the second unit, where i have this problem now. It's not working more than two weeks when...

    Cambridge Audio DacMagic XS

Yes, i have read that too. So i assumed allready that it _maybe_ does not work with iDevices. But i gave it a try by myself, just to be sure about that, and shared the results here.

    Tiny DAC, Big Sound, Evolved – Stoner Acoustics UD100 / UD110 / UD120

I got a Message from Stoner Acoustics:   So i think we had some typos in our conversation. Well, i meant 24-bits not 32-bits.  But - does anyone uses Windows 8 64-Bit? Maybe we should give it a try on Windows 8 - but i have none installed on my PC...   kind regards Fabian

    JDS Labs C5/C5D (pg96) portable amp/amp+DAC

Thanks for the Information. I just wanted to see the idea behind that. Maybe on the PCM5102A there is no audible difference between them. When i play with SoX or the DacMagic Plus i can hear the differences of the filters. But as the Firmware allows me to change it, i can experiment on it...

    Tiny DAC, Big Sound, Evolved – Stoner Acoustics UD100 / UD110 / UD120

Yes, i am running Windows 7. And yes, i know this - and therefore i contacted Stoner Acoustics about that issue. And, no, USB Class 1.0 Audio uses a generic OS-Driver to get the Device working. And when i switch the DacMagic XS to USB 1.0 Mode, it uses the same driver as for the SaviAudio in...

    Tiny DAC, Big Sound, Evolved – Stoner Acoustics UD100 / UD110 / UD120

So you do not know what Windows does internally. It's possible that the Sound-Subsystem thinks that the soundcard is not capable of 24-bit, so it converts everything to 16-bit? I also don't know...     Thanks for the impression. I got mine UD110v2 today, and hooked it up to a O2-alike...

    JDS Labs C5/C5D (pg96) portable amp/amp+DAC

Thanks for the Answer! just ordered the adapter! Did you made some listening-tests of the both filter-characteristics? And why is it set zu minimum-phase (low-latency) by default? I mean, low-latency is only usefull within studio-applications. In a headphone amp+dac it makes no sense to me...

    Tiny DAC, Big Sound, Evolved – Stoner Acoustics UD100 / UD110 / UD120

This looks strange, because i think, that the SaviAudio should run driver-less in USB Audio Class 1.0-Mode (like the JSD Labs C5D) and provide up to 24bit/96kHz, also through DirectSound. Maybe there is some misconfiguration/problem with the operating system. I don't know how long it takes...

    JDS Labs C5/C5D (pg96) portable amp/amp+DAC

As i just ordered an C5D, i'll get interrested now. What i like most, and i didn't test the C5D yet, is the fast order processing, super support and the open-source design. PCB's are in clear view, no rubbed off microchips, Firmware is open source - and this leaves much room for tinkering...
