Honestly, I must say that it doesn't drive them very well. At normal listening volumes I'm at 2-3 o'clock on the knob and when a big bass swing hits the D50 clips. It also sounds a bit thin and grainy.

My new SRM-D50 is inbound. It should be delivered tomorrow. I'm going to be using it with a set of Audeze CRBNs. The CRBN is supposedly pretty easy to drive as far as e-stats go so it should work well. I'll come back here to give my impressions on the pairing.

What EQ do you run on the Expanse? When I'm listening to EDM I put in a little shelf below 80hz but that's about it.

One thing that I have noticed about a lot of audiophiles is that many of them listen to low quality music. They purchase gear in the hopes that it will make their terrible music sound better than it really is. They want their audio system to lie to them and tell them that there is nothing wrong...

A note about the the SMSL SP400+M400 stack for others who might be considering it . . . . . it sounds fantastic. The stepped attenuator is flawless. No channel imbalance whatsoever. Even on low gain the SP400 drives the Expanse with speed and authority! That's what 12 watts into 16 ohms/6 watts...
