Amp to drive 250 ohm over ears?

After talking to my Sweetwater representative, I'm leaning more toward the Aphex Headpod 4. It drives 4 headphones up to 1000 ohms. Costs about $250, but since these will sometimes be used in a recording studio it seems worth it.

Amp to drive 250 ohm over ears?

I have another question that doesn't warrant a separate thread: Is there a multi channel (2-8 channels) amplifier that you recommend for driving multiple headphones? All of the headphones are likely to be the same 250 ohm Koss pro 4AAA's. Edit: I have an Art passive 4 way splitter, can I use...

Amp to drive 250 ohm over ears?

Thanks a lot, I understand. I think the Magni will be perfect and have no problem driving high impedance headphones.

Amp to drive 250 ohm over ears?

Thanks, I did just stumble across the Schiit Magni 3. Do they produce low end well? Sometimes I find myself using the bass boost on the A3 to help push the Koss low end out a bit.

Amp to drive 250 ohm over ears?

Hello, I have a question about driving my Koss Pro 4aaa phones. From my research, these headphones have 250 ohms resistance. I have a Fiio A3 portable amp and from my limited knowledge it is not powerful enough to get the most from my Koss'. I would prefer a portable amp, but would settle on...

To anyone deciding between the velour and pleather pads for the Marantz/lyx phones, I have both and the original pleather ones are better sounding and more comfortable.

guicnovaes, Just sold my M50X's because I found them un-usable. Much too V-shaped. The build vs the Marantz is almost exactly the same. The Marantz sound MUCH more even throughout, and don't pierce my eardrums like the M50x's. I don't have high end headphones to compare to. I use monitors...

I second what Pharmaboy says about the MDH9000. They are accurate and enjoyable. I trust them for studio use, and enjoy them outside of the studio. I would like to try the HD9999 someday.

Isn't it a good practice to always replace both drivers, or is that only for hi fi speaker pairs?

I just tried that mod on my marantz, and it works. However, the input jack in the headphones becomes at higher risk of damage. The locking sleeve that gets taken out adds stability. The only rememdy would be to get a very close fit between the cable end and the input cylinder. I put the...

There's also a clone called Freeboss MDH9000, available on Amazon for $42. It has the same earpads as the Marantz. And it comes with 2 cables. These are a seriously good deal! I hope you have no issue getting the to Brazil, I see aliexpress is sold out of the ISK

Great write up, Pharmaboy. I haven't listened to the fostex headphones, but I totally agree with your evaluation of the mdh9000 clones. It was your write ups that got me interested in them, thank you very much. They are now my go-to headphones, both in my studio and for personal use.

Yes, I have had the M50X for over a year and am not impressed.  Their sound is much too V-shaped, and like Pharmaboy said, they are much too bright for me to use.  In fact, they downright hurt my ears.  The MDH9000 clones are more comfortable, more accurate, and have nearly the same build...

I have 2 marantz and 2 freeboss headphones, I've been using one of the marantz exclusively daily for a couple months to get a good idea of how they hold up. So far I have had no problems and no degradation. I'm a music producer and avid listener of different music, and I just love the sound...

The mdh9000 clones are wonderful, but they do have a little bass hump that is quite tasteful in my opinion. Not sloppy or boomy. I prefer them over most of my other phones for enjoying music. Plus they are built well and comfy. The freeboss variant on Amazon is the cheapest right now, but the...
