Bass Ball Open Source Speaker
Better measurements. Recalibrated mic settings to record at a louder volume and thus minimize background noise effects like the pc fans. Also, I used a fiio a5 to provide a simple eq bass boost. At loud volumes however I ran into clipping issues at low frequencies. So I recommend against this...- JoeLimon

I got some measurements. First some disclaimers though. The following graph is not compensated, and does not come from a measurement mic. I plan on eventually buying a proper mic, but for now I am using what is already available to me. The mic I have available is a rode lavalier, and the...- JoeLimon

I haven't had any access to equipment to test them. That said, the second speaker just finished printing, and I will be attempting to visit a friend with a proper spl meter this weekend. That said, I was interested, and with a HUGE disclaimer to explain my very flawed setup, I did do a peak...- JoeLimon

Built my first wood speaker. Sounds much better! The plastic one seems to hum at low frequencies, and vibrates/emits mid/high range frequencies. This is probably due to wall thickness being too thin. The thicker/denser walls in the wood speaker appear to have corrected this...- JoeLimon

Indeed! It is cheaper to buy all the parts/materials for a bunch of speakers and a 3d printer big enough to print them. Than it is to order a single enclosure though Shapeways. If you ever wanted to justify buying a 3d printer, here is your chance  haha.- JoeLimon

I found a better host than turbosquid to list the latest revision of this ball. New price is down to $10 (same revenue). http://cults3d.com/en/gadget/bb-3-speaker-enclosure- JoeLimon

Well I am going public on a little project of mine. It is an open source project so please join me or feel free to share it with anyone who you think would be interested in it. A little information. This is a spherical speaker enclosure. The shape allows the sound energy to project...- JoeLimon

Ok really bad at electric calculations... but is this right? I read that the CCA is 2 Vrms, and these headphones are 50 ohm. So V/r=I... or 2 Volt/50ohm=0.04 Amp P=IV... 2 Volt*0.04 Amp=0.08 Watt or 80 mW. Which is less than the minimum 200 mW requirement, and significantly less than the 4...- JoeLimon

I read somewhere that impedance matching is wasted on headphones is a non issue due to the relatively short length of wire involved. Whereas in l lines stretching many miles in length it becomes a far greater issue. This all said, I would greatly appreciate someone trying the setup.- JoeLimon

I can't find power specs on the CCA, all I know is that it is substantially more powerful than my cell phone. On its lowest not muted volume it is about equivalent to half volume on my galaxy S7. also, I have read that it is capable of driving 600 ohm headphones.- JoeLimon

I was wondering. Is the Chromecast Audio powerful enough to drive these? I am looking to upgrade to planar magnetics from some Harman Kardon CL, but am really budget conscious.- JoeLimon
